KONTHAI

콘타이 Kontai The romanized sign reads KONTHAI, which looks like Thai 'khon thai' (Thai people); none of the posts explain the name.

Kontai's Amorepacific branch is a Thai restaurant in the basement food hall of the Amorepacific headquarters, connected underground to Sinyongsan station. People come for noodle soups, pad thai and khao kha mu, braised pork hock on rice served in a pig-shaped bowl. As of October 2026, noodle soups run 13,900 to 16,900 won and khao kha mu is 16,900 won. You order from a tablet at the table or from a kiosk. We read 28 posts dated April 6 to October 17, 2026. Thirteen were about this restaurant and 12 described an actual meal; the rest covered other shops in the building or other branches, such as the one in IFC Mall.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It is easy to reach by subway. Eight posts describe walking in from Sinyongsan station through the underground passage into the building, and eight mention from their own visit that the restaurant is on basement level 1. Some give directions: through the revolving door, first on the right, or straight ahead off the escalator, then right. One post walked about ten minutes from Exit 2 of Yongsan station.
  2. Writing a Naver review gets you grilled corn skewers. Nine of the 12 visit posts mention this offer. Two say you get ten skewers, and three posts actually claimed and ate them.
  3. You place your own order rather than giving it to staff. Five posts mention this: three ordered and paid on a tablet at the table, two used a kiosk. Several posts note that each table has Thai fish sauce, chili flakes and chili vinegar, with instructions on how to use them.
  4. Seven posts found the portions generous. One was surprised by how large the khao kha mu was; a pair who shared noodle soup, a rice bowl and chicken wings wrote that it was more than enough for two.

Separate restrooms1 of 12 posts

Nobody wrote about steps at the entrance or about getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post took an elevator down to the restaurant level; others came down by escalator.

The toilets are not inside the restaurant. One post describes them firsthand: shared mall toilets, separate for men and women, near the escalators. Other posts that mention toilets are just repeating listing info.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 13 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. Posts from February to June 2026 list beef noodle soup at 13,900 won, and shrimp pad thai and morning glory beef noodles at 14,900 won. Posts from September and October list beef noodle soup at 14,900 won, and pad thai, morning glory beef noodles and tomato noodles at 15,900 won. That looks like a 1,000-won increase sometime between June and September. One post called it on the expensive side. As of October 2026, a bowl of noodles costs 13,900 to 16,900 won.
  • We don't really know about waits. Only one post describes its own experience: around 6 pm on a weekend there was no line and plenty of free tables. Other posts say there is a wait at mealtimes or that the place was packed with office workers at weekday lunch, but none of them say they queued. Two posts mention a waiting list and chairs at the entrance; one of them sat there until the afternoon break ended. Nobody says how long a weekday lunch wait is. One October post found that morning orders had already closed on a weekend.
  • Ten posts give the same hours: 11:00 to 22:00. Six list a weekday break from 15:00 to 17:00 and five a last order at 20:30; two say there is no break on weekends. Most of this is copied from listing info, but one post actually got caught by the break and had to wait. Six posts give the same phone number, 02-6273-6001. One copied note says there is no Naver booking and to call instead; nobody wrote about actually making a reservation.
  • Seven posts follow the same template: the same string of hashtags, a link to the restaurant's Instagram, and in several cases a tie-in with the Thai exhibition at the National Museum of Korea and the film Pavane, which was shot here. Only one of the seven discloses sponsorship. We counted them because they do describe what was eaten, but that may be why their praise sounds so alike.
