JEOKPO
적포 Jeokpo Jeokpo is written 赤炮 — 'red' and 'to wrap and roast' — fitting a charcoal-grilled chicken house whose ceiling, pipes and even air conditioner are painted red.

Jeokpo is a charcoal-grilled chicken house on the 8th floor of Hanil Tower on Supyo-ro (the building with Hanilok on the ground floor), a short walk from exit 15 of Jongno 3-ga station. A whole chicken is roasted in the kitchen and brought out on a stone plate with potato, carrot salad, sticky rice and shishito peppers, in salt, gochujang, garlic-soy or spicy versions; several posts put the gochujang and garlic-soy at 28,000 won. Staff mix the house 'makseuki' — makgeolli with whisky, 5,000 won a glass — at the table, and you fry extra buckwheat pancakes yourself at a self-serve station. We read 25 posts dated 29 August to 19 October 2026, and every one of them describes an actual visit. The place is new, so the posts are bunched into just over two months.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You fry your own buckwheat pancakes, as many as you like — 24 of the 25 posts say so. A corner station has three-hole pans, a burner and batter, with a screen playing a how-to video. Posts report making six or five extra. One notes the pancakes served at the start were cold and a bit thick for wrapping, so they fried thinner ones.
- A free yuzu welcome drink arrives as you sit down — 23 posts mention it, and 17 of those say a small sesame or rice crisp came with it. It is served in a tiny beer glass with foam on top. Four posts call it an opening promotion, and one says the restaurant's notice ran it until October; we don't know whether it continues after that.
- There is no grilling at the table: five posts say the chicken comes out fully cooked, then sits over a small burner or candle to stay hot. One post says it takes a while to arrive because the whole bird has to cook. Another says staff explained that pinkish meat near the bone is normal, not undercooked.
- Nine posts say the portion is big. Two men left the last piece; another pair said two people ended up very full. The chicken comes whole.
3 more
- Eleven posts mention a separate room called the byeolchae. One says it seats up to six and another says around six; one more only guessed it was a private room.
- Heat depends on the flavour. The two posts that had the spicy version found it hot — one compares it to Buldak — while three who had the gochujang version say it isn't really spicy. Two posts warn that the shishito peppers on the side can be very hot.
- Four posts were given an ice-cream coupon on the way out. You redeem it at a bar on the 7th floor of the same building — one post describes a scoop of vanilla with cinnamon — and two say you can take it away.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 13 (of 25 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Lift to the floor | 13 of 25 posts |
| Toilet inside | 3 of 25 posts |
The restaurant is on the 8th floor and 13 posts took the lift. Six say the entrance is hard to find: it is just left of Hanilok on the ground floor. One writer went up the wrong building first, and another walked past it once.
We don't know about steps, wheelchairs or pushchairs — no post mentions them. Thirteen posts confirm a lift, but none says whether the building entrance or the restaurant door has a step; that is not the same as there being none. One post found the entrance narrower than expected, and one saw a high chair.
Three posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant. Whether it is split by gender we can't say: two posts copy 'separate men's and women's toilets' from a listing, and one of them calls it a single toilet in its own text.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- We don't know how long the wait is. Only one post mentions it, saying there was no queue when they went. One writer was the first customer at the 4:30 pm opening and saw it fill up within half an hour. One post booked through Naver and two more say booking is possible.
- Opening hours: seventeen posts give 4:30–10:30 pm, eleven a 10 pm last order, and twelve say closed Sundays — all copied into info blocks. Two posts say 'every day', which conflicts with the Sunday closure.
- Prices: ten posts put the gochujang and garlic-soy chicken at 28,000 won. One post gives 26,000 won for the salt version, and another's 38,000-won total for chicken, two makseuki and a soft drink fits that; a third says all four flavours cost 28,000. Two people having one chicken with drinks comes to roughly 40,000 won in most posts. No one called it expensive, and two said it was good value.
- The makseuki 3+1 offer (four glasses for 15,000 won) appears only in four posts from 3 to 21 September 2026 and not after; we don't know whether it still runs. A review reward — a free ramyeon or dongchimi noodles — shows up in five posts from early September to 19 October.
- Twelve posts give the same phone number, 0507-1388-3414. Several say you can book through Naver; one heard that groups of ten or more must book by phone.
- On who paid: one post says it was self-paid, and one hints the visit was hosted by saying next time they'll go on their own money. The other 23 say nothing, but seven repeat near-identical wording about the yuzu drink and sesame crisps and five copy the same line about Joseon aristocrats' food culture, which suggests the writers worked from a restaurant brief. That may explain why the praise is so uniform.
