Raw fish
Doyeon Hoe Pocha
도연회포차 Hoe-pocha means a casual raw-fish pub (hoe is sliced raw fish, pocha is short for pojangmacha, the Korean street bar); Doyeon reads as a person's given name.

Doyeon Hoe Pocha is a live-fish restaurant on the corner of a ground-floor unit on Supyo-ro, near exit 15 of Jongno 3-ga station. The mixed platter of halibut, rockfish, sea bream and mullet costs 45,000 won and comes with a free spicy fish stew; in winter people ordered yellowtail, alone or with flounder, for 70,000 won. Most meals end with dough or ramen noodles dropped into the stew. Posts describe an after-work crowd of office workers and company dinners. We read 30 posts from June 2025 to October 2026; 28 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Before the fish arrives, the table fills with free starters, and sea squirt comes on the house: 20 posts say these cost nothing. Corn cheese, silkworm pupae, peas and white kimchi come up again and again. One writer picks raw-fish places by whether they serve corn cheese, and notes refills cost 2,000 won. Only one post, from July 2026, found the sea squirt lukewarm.
- Expect to wait at dinner. Eight posts waited or saw a queue; two walked straight in. The waits people recorded were 10 minutes on a Tuesday at 6:30 pm and about 10 minutes with four groups ahead. One writer was turned away on a full weekday evening around 7 or 8 pm and came back in the lull between lunch and dinner. Posts that arrived at 2:30 pm or 5:30 pm on a Friday found it quiet. There is no app-based waitlist; one post advises phoning ahead.
- Posts disagree on how thick the slices are: six say thick, three say thin. Three of the thick verdicts are about winter yellowtail; one of the thin camp jokes you need to pick up two slices at a time.
- Most posts think it is cheap: nine call the prices fair or low, one calls them high, about yellowtail costing more than expected. Two stayed undecided, one unsure whether 45,000 won bought enough fish and one finding 70,000 won for yellowtail not exactly easy.
5 more
- Seven posts found the portions generous and two found them small; one of those two left for a second stop because there was too little fish. Of the seven generous verdicts, one is about a heap of fried shrimp rather than the fish.
- It is a small room. Posts that counted tables put it at about 8, 8, 10 and 10. Four call it cramped or not large, one calls it spacious. One mentions tables set close together; another saw tables pushed together for a party of 10 to 15. One post notes storage for coats and bags inside the chairs.
- In good weather there are tables outside: three posts saw or tried for them. An April 2026 post watched an extra outdoor table appear during the meal, and an October 2025 post ate inside because no outdoor seat came free. Several mention the folding doors being left open.
- Nine posts call the staff kind. One says noodles were added to the stew for free because the next table was noisy; another says the staff looked after them like daughters even when busy.
- Four posts found it easy to reach by subway: from exit 15 of Jongno 3-ga station, walk straight, turn into the Isaac Toast alley and cross the road. Quoted walking times of 3, 7 and 8 minutes are all copied listings.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

It is at street level, not in a basement: two posts that describe the walk place it on the ground-floor corner of the building, opposite a Pascucci café.
We don't know about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access; nobody wrote about it. Note that the toilets are outside the restaurant.
There is no toilet inside the restaurant: five posts say you go outside. Two describe the building toilet to the left as unisex, and one calls it very dirty. Three used the separate men's and women's toilets in the Gugilgwan building across the street and found them cleaner.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- All opening hours are copied from listings. Three posts up to August 2025 give a 10:30 pm close; 16 posts from October 2025 on give 11 pm. One June 2025 post alone lists a 3–5 pm break. Saturday opening is disputed: nine posts say 2 pm, four say Monday–Saturday from 11:30, one gives 1–11 pm and one says 'every day'. Nearly all agree on Sunday closing and last orders at 9:30 pm.
- The stew's price varies. It is free with the platter and sets, but ordered separately it cost 5,000 won in an August 2025 post and 8,000 won in a July 2026 post; one writer thinks single-fish orders don't include it. Yellowtail prices follow the season. A roundup's figure of 49,000 won for the platter is copied, not paid; every visit paid 45,000 won.
- Eleven posts give the phone number 0507-1485-2303; one gives 02-2272-2274. One post booked a dinner table by phone, and another rang ahead and was told the wait would be about 10 minutes.
