Neoguri Sogul

너구리소굴 Neoguri is the Korean raccoon dog and sogul a den or lair — 'the raccoon dog's den'; the entrance is built like a rock cave and raccoon figures sit all over the rooms.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

Neoguri Sogul occupies an entire four-storey building on a side street of Jonggak's Youth Street in Gwancheol-dong, Jongno. The entrance is dressed as a rock cave and raccoon figures are tucked everywhere inside. The signature is the cave bone stew (₩31,000 plain, ₩32,000 soy or spicy), but the menu runs through hot pots, pancakes, fried dishes, beef tartare and sashimi — two people tend to add noodles or fried rice to the stew, groups order a spread to share. It opens at 4 pm and runs into the small hours. We read 30 posts from 29 August 2025 to 25 September 2026; 28 of them record an actual visit (one was about another place, one only compiled information).

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Nine posts say the portions are large — 'a really lot of meat' on the bone stew, sashimi 'enough for three', a ₩13,000 mussel soup with 'an insane amount of mussels'. Two disagree: one found the ₩18,000 grilled chicken to be mostly vegetables, another said the soy bone stew isn't that much once the bones are out and suggested ordering a second dish.
  2. Five posts say you order from a tablet or kiosk at the table. Several mention a single side of white kimchi, and some that plastic gloves come with the bone stew.
  3. Four posts from April to July 2026 describe a first-anniversary offer: order a main and get a second dish such as yuringi, mussel soup or grilled pollock roe free, with Friday and Saturday limited to arrivals before 7 pm. We don't know whether it still runs.
  4. Of the posts that say who they came with, eleven came with friends, two with a husband or partner, and two as a work or student group. One post says the third floor is mostly group tables; one says the upper floors are laid out as private rooms.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 28 posts

Sixteen posts mention the floors. The building runs from the first to the fourth floor, but not all are always open: a Monday visit in December 2025 found only two floors open, posts from April and July 2026 say only the first and second were in use, while a weekend visit in July 2026 was sent up to the fourth. There is no basement seating; four posts sat on or described the ground floor.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. No post mentions a lift either; those who went upstairs say they took the stairs. That is not proof there is none — just that no one said.

Eight posts say the toilets are inside, four of them calling them clean. Those that give a location say the second floor (one says the second and fourth); a post seated on the fourth floor found one there too. Only one post, from experience, says they are separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queuing. One arrived at 6 pm on a Friday to a half-full room that was full 30 minutes later, another found it packed on a Monday, and one waited a long time for a dish because the kitchen was backed up. Two posts say they booked ahead.
  • Noise is disputed: two posts found it not too loud, one called it deafening because of a drunk table nearby. Another noted that groups and couples are seated on different floors.
  • All opening hours are copied, and they appear to have changed in early 2026. Posts from September to December 2025 give Sun–Thu 16:00–02:30 (last order 01:30) and Fri–Sat 16:00–05:30 (04:30); posts from April to July 2026 give Tue–Sat 16:00–05:00 (last order 04:00) and Sun–Mon 16:00–02:30 (01:30). One post copied 'no regular closing day'. One post's timetable, menu included, belonged to another venue and was dropped.
  • Prices held steady over the year: the bone stew was ₩31,000 (₩32,000 soy or spicy) on a September 2025 menu, ₩31,000 when ordered in April 2026, and spicy ₩32,000 in September 2026. One pair paid ₩42,000 for the stew plus buckwheat noodles. Two posts note there is no plain rice.
  • Eight posts give the phone number as 0507-1367-4931; two others each list a different 010 mobile number. Several posts copy that reservations go through Naver Booking and CatchTable.
  • Seven posts between August 2025 and January 2026 carry the same hashtag block and the same 'Jonggak hot pot' phrasing; one of them discloses a reviewer program and a separate post discloses sponsorship. They may be commissioned, so weigh their praise lightly.
