Parang Haenyeojip Jongno Bonjeom
파랑해녀집 종로본점 Parang (波浪) means ocean waves and a haenyeo is one of Korea's women free-divers who gather seafood, so the name reads 'Wave Haenyeo House'; Jongno Bonjeom marks it as the flagship branch in Jongno.
Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →
A seafood pub down the alley off Jonggak Station exit 4 (Ujeongguk-ro 2-gil 37, ground floor). It is registered as 'Jongno Haenyeojip Bonjeom', but the sign and every post call it Parang Haenyeojip. In a large room with ocean waves projected on the wall, people drink over aged sashimi platters (small 48,000 won), giant futomaki (half 12,000 / whole 23,000) and seasonal seafood such as raw shrimp and gizzard shad. One pair paid 61,500 won for a small platter, perilla-oil noodles and a bottle of soju; another paid 79,500 won for a small platter, a whole futomaki, soju and a soft drink. We read 30 posts from September 19 to October 18, 2026; 29 describe an actual meal. One discloses sponsorship, five say they paid themselves, and 23 say nothing either way.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Seaweed soup and a plate of seaweeds arrive before anything else: 23 of the 29 visit posts mention them, eaten with chili-vinegar sauce. Four posts had refills, one of them twice, another finishing a bowl of soup while waiting for the fish.
- In the evening, reservations come first. Twelve posts either saw reserved tables or booked ahead, and several describe tables already set with the guest's name. Five posts actually saw a line: one saw it form soon after 5 p.m., one on a Thursday night, one on the way out after walking straight in with a booking. No post says how many minutes anyone waited.
- Ordering is done on a tablet at each table (eight posts); one adds that extra perilla leaves and corkage are requested through it too.
- The steamed whole cuttlefish takes time: both posts that ordered it said about 40 minutes, and one thought the order had been lost.
2 more
- Eight posts found the portions generous; one said a small sashimi platter is not enough for two hungry people. The seafood platter and cold noodle bowl were singled out as large.
- It is not quiet: four posts call it loud or say neighbouring tables carry over, and one found it lively but fine for talking. Several posts mention windows or folding doors thrown open on mild evenings, giving it a street-stall feel.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

No post describes the floor from experience; the address says ground floor and posts walk straight in, but nobody mentions stairs or levels.
We don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits; nobody wrote about it. Two posts place the toilets on two floors of the building's stairwell.
Two posts say the toilets are outside the restaurant, off the building's stairwell: men's on the ground floor, women's one floor up behind a keypad code.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Thirteen posts call it close to the station, mostly two minutes on foot from Jonggak exit 4, some three to five. No post came by bus.
- Twenty-two posts list opening hours, all copied from the shop's listing. They agree on 4 p.m. opening and 1:30 a.m. closing Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday closing splits 14 posts for 2 a.m. against 3 for 3 a.m. Six give last orders as 12:30 a.m. (Sun–Thu) and 1 a.m. (Fri–Sat); one says there is no regular day off.
- Some prices differ between posts: the steamed cuttlefish is 23,000 won in an October 17 order but 24,000 on a menu copied October 14; the crab stew 38,000 in an October 10 order but 36,000 on the copied menu; sea cucumber cost one diner 15,000 on September 21 while another quoted the Naver menu at 7,000 a piece. These don't line up by date. Four posts call it good value; none call it expensive.
- Thirteen posts give the number 0507-1396-5628. Several copy the booking rule: Naver or CatchTable until 7 p.m., by phone (02-733-5597) after that, and by phone for groups of twelve or more.
- All 30 posts fall within one month, and 17 from October 3–18 share the same keyword titles, the same info block in the same order and the same hashtags; one of these is tagged as sponsored and two still carry a pasted booking widget. Each describes a real meal so we counted them, but the uniform praise may reflect a campaign.
- Three posts copy the shop's no-kids policy; nobody visited with children.
