Gimsambo Bosingak-jeom
김삼보 보신각점 Gimsambo is said to stand for kimchi-jjigae, samgyeopsal and bossam (kimchi stew, pork belly, boiled pork); Bosingak is the old bell pavilion this branch sits behind.

Gimsambo Bosingak is a two-storey kimchi-stew and pork-belly house in the food alley behind Jonggak Station exit 4 (Jongno 8-gil 13), open around the clock. Every stew comes with rice cooked to order in its own pot plus half a pack of noodles; pork kimchi stew with pot rice is 12,000 won per person, unchanged in posts from February to October 2026. In the evening people grill pork belly or neck (180 g, 18,000 won) or a mixed pork platter (540 g, 54,000 won) on stone plates, and meat orders come with steamed egg and soybean stew. Almost every post ends the meal by pouring water into the emptied rice pot to make scorched-rice tea. We read 30 posts from September 2025 to October 2026; 27 of them, from February to October 2026, describe actually eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Eleven posts say the portions are large — one says the pork and kimchi still hadn't run out after filling a plate, another that the pot rice comes heaped. None said portions were small.
- Eight posts say it's good value and none call it expensive; the usual reason is that the 12,000-won stew already includes pot rice and noodles. Two people paid 35,000 won for two pork stews and the big omelette in one post, 39,000 won for two combo stews, an omelette and a cola in another.
- Eight posts say you order on a tablet or kiosk at the table; two mention paying by card up front, and one advises asking the owner for help if you're not used to it.
- Four posts say the ground-floor windows or folding doors were thrown open so it felt like eating outdoors — all from cool days in late September and October 2026. Nobody says what happens in colder months.
1 more
- Seven posts note how thick the pork is and four say it has no gamey smell; one was surprised a jowl cut could be that thick.

Parking
2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Two posts say outright there's no parking and suggest public transport. Many others repeat "no parking, use nearby public lots" in copied info boxes. One sponsored post's info box says parking is available, then its own text says it isn't.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 13 of 27 posts |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 3 of 27 posts |
Thirteen posts mention the second floor and two say it has private rooms (the 40-seat/70-seat figures come from a sign in the shop). It isn't always open, though: one late-September evening post found it not yet open and an early-October post said only the ground floor was running. The post that ate upstairs did so on a weekday when office dinners had filled the ground floor.
The restaurant occupies the ground and first floors; no one mentions a basement, and no one says whether the upper floor is reached by stairs or a lift.
We don't know whether there's a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair gets in. One post came with a baby but didn't describe the entrance — that means nobody wrote about it, not that it's a problem.
Three posts say the toilet is inside, two of them that it's upstairs. Nobody says whether ground-floor diners must climb stairs to reach it or whether it's split by gender.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions on space differ: nine posts call it roomy, one says the ground-floor hall is small with tables so close people had to squeeze past, and one says the ground floor is crowded but upstairs is spacious. The complaints are all about the ground floor.
- The big rolled omelette changed: five posts from February to April 2026 got it free with their stew (one calls it an opening promotion), while posts from September on paid 11,000 won for it. We don't know exactly when in between it changed.
- Eleven posts put it one to three minutes' walk from Jonggak Station exit 4; one adds that the Woori Bank bus stop is the nearest.
- No post describes waiting for a table. One found the ground floor nearly full at 6:30 on a weekday evening and another found it half full at 1 pm and 7 pm on weekends, but nobody says whether there's a lunchtime queue. One post notes the pot rice takes about 7 to 10 minutes after ordering.
- Only a few posts say who they came with: three as couples, and one each with a friend, alone, and with family and a baby. Many call it good for group dinners, but no post we read actually came as a large group.
- On opening hours, 25 posts say open 24 hours and none disagree, but most copy the listing info and no one wrote about going in the small hours. One copied info box warns that late-night opening may change.
- Twelve posts give the phone number as 02-736-0190; a different number and address in one copied info box seem to belong to another branch, so we left them out. Several posts repeat that Naver and group bookings are possible, but none actually booked.
- Prices are from menu boards in September and October 2026 posts. Steamed egg and soybean stew come free with grilled meat but cost 5,000 won each on their own; one meat-platter post paid 5,000 won to add the soybean stew.
- Many of these posts look like paid promotion: the September–October 2026 cluster repeats the same hashtags and "Jongno kimchi-stew spot" phrasing, and only four disclose sponsorship. One blogger also posted two near-identical write-ups in February and August.
