Kirakira Yun

키라키라윤 Kirakira is Japanese for 'sparkling' or 'glittering' — the outside of the building carries the line 'sparkling Kira nights'; the posts do not explain 'Yun'.

A Japanese-style izakaya on the third and fourth floors of a building facing the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail in Gongneung-dong. The third floor is indoor seating; the fourth has more indoor tables plus an open-air terrace. The most-ordered dishes are sukiyaki (₩24,000) and the giant futomaki roll (₩26,000), and a typical visit is two people sharing one hot pot and a dish or two over drinks. You order by scanning a QR code at the table, and fried sweet-potato sticks come free. It is the Gongneung branch of a small chain. We read 30 posts dated 19 July to 16 October 2026, all from people who went; four disclosed sponsorship and one was a review-program visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The free snack never changes: 18 posts mention crisp, sweet fried sweet-potato sticks arriving first, and two say they asked for refills and got them.
  2. Ordering is by QR code at the table: 15 posts describe scanning it with their phone, and one notes there is no paper menu at all. One writer seated on the fourth-floor terrace said ordering from outside was no trouble.
  3. Twelve posts say the portions are large. One compares the cream jjamppong bowl to a washbasin, one had to order extra baguette for the egg-in-hell, and two women sharing sukiyaki and a futomaki roll still had food left over.
  4. The fourth-floor outdoor space is the draw: 10 posts mention the terrace and 9 the rooftop. One writer counted every table — on the third floor one two-seater, five four-seaters and one six-seater; on the fourth floor indoors two two-seaters, two four-seaters and one six-seater; and on the terrace one two-seater and four four-seaters.
3 more
  1. Dogs are welcome. Four posts went with a dog or saw one on the terrace. One writer said the owner remembered their dog by name; another chose the most out-of-the-way table out of consideration for other guests.
  2. Posting a receipt review earns a free mini ice cream: five posts mention receiving it or being told about it, and one says a soft drink is offered as an alternative.
  3. It is a chain: four posts mention other branches — one writer has been going to the Wolgye branch for years — or call it a franchise outright.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 11 (of 29 posts read)
Lift to the flooryes 0 · no 2 (of 29 posts read)
Toilet inside4 of 29 posts

It is upstairs, not in a basement: 11 posts describe going up to the third or fourth floor. The ground floor is a café. One writer with a 5 p.m. booking found the third floor still closed and was seated on the fourth.

There is no lift. Two posts say so: you climb the stairs to the third floor, and one warns that the steps are steep.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in, or whether there is a step at the door — nobody wrote about it. With no lift and stairs up to the third floor it looks hard, but that is our inference, not anyone's account.

The toilets are inside the restaurant. Four posts say so, and two add that the fourth floor has its own toilet, so you don't have to go up and down between floors.

We don't know whether the toilets are separated by gender. The only mention of a unisex toilet was copied from the store listing, not observed.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • The outdoor area is not always open. Five posts from July and August 2026 found the rooftop shut because of heat, rain or cloud; September and October posts either sat out there or found it full. One writer thought the upper floor doesn't take orders on quiet weekdays. None of the posts say how to check ahead.
  • One post disagrees on noise. Four describe it as calm and good for conversation, but a 30 September post found the third floor loud and cold and the fourth floor quiet.
  • No one wrote about queuing. That doesn't mean there is never a wait — just that nobody reported one. Writers did mention a full house: one found the third floor full and went up to the fourth, one said it had filled up by the time they left in the early evening, and one couldn't get a terrace table. Another suggests arriving at opening time for a quieter room.
  • 27 posts give opening hours, almost all copied from the listing: daily 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., last order 1:30 a.m. One says it closes at 5 a.m. and another gives last order as 2:30 a.m. — both look like typos. Only one post mentions closing days, copying 'open every day'. Two writers arrived right at the 5 p.m. opening.
  • Prices are mostly consistent, with two exceptions. Corn tempura was ₩15,000 in a 25 August post and ₩14,000 in a 15 October one; the berry highball was ₩9,000 on 6 October and ₩8,000 in a menu list from 15 October. We can't tell whether the price changed or was miswritten. Only one writer commented on value, saying prices are fair for the area and good given the portions. Two people sharing a hot pot and one other dish spent around ₩40,000–49,000 on food.
  • The phone number, 0507-1474-1776, was copied from the listing by many posts. 'Naver booking available' is also copied; only one writer actually reserved, for the 5 p.m. first sitting.
  • Many posts look like they were written to the same brief: nine October posts put the same keyword phrase in the title, and six from July and August use an identical set of hashtags in the same order. Four disclosed sponsorship, one was a review-program visit, two said they paid their own way, and the other 23 say nothing.
