Bobo Sikdang

보보식당 Sikdang simply means 'eatery'; the posts never explain the name 'Bobo'.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A modern Chinese restaurant on the ground floor of the Robin building on Eonju-ro 174-gil, a 5–10 minute walk from Exit 6 of Apgujeong Rodeo station. People come in groups to share dishes like butter sweet-and-sour pork (pork tenderloin, 35,000 won), mala fried eggplant (29,000), mapo tofu over rice or noodles (16,000) and dongpo pork (four pieces, 45,000); at lunch there is a two-person set for 57,000 won. There are hall tables, a bar facing the open kitchen, and private rooms. Posts describe it as the restaurant of chef Jang Bo-won from Culinary Class Wars 2. We read 30 posts dated 8 August to 24 October 2026; 24 describe an actual meal. Two were set aside as being about other places (the Gwanghwamun branch and a nearby café).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. 19 of the 24 visit posts mention private rooms. The count differs: one post lists three rooms for 4, 6 and 8, another says five. Many posts copy the same notice of a room minimum spend of 200,000 won at lunch and 400,000 at dinner. One post counted the hall at eight four-tops and two two-tops and called it not large; another found it bigger than expected.
  2. 14 posts say they booked ahead, via Naver or CatchTable. Lunch fills fast: one arrived at 11:40 for a noon booking and found more than half the tables taken; another says the room was full by 12:10. One post found Naver booking closed for their slot, phoned, and got the last table.
  3. 15 posts say tea is poured as you sit down — usually hot jasmine, though one post was served it cold. Pickled celtuce stems come as the side dish, and one post had it refilled.
  4. 10 posts call the frying crisp — the eggplant, the butter sweet-and-sour, the monkfish. Not all: on a weekend repeat visit one post got overcooked, hard sweet-and-sour pork (another staff member had it remade), and another found the eggplant batter a little thick.
7 more
  1. Heat is disputed: 5 posts found dishes spicy or numbing, 2 found them mild. The same mala eggplant is 'numbingly hot' in one post and 'not spicy at all' in another; one post was let down by how mild the hot-and-sour soup was.
  2. Speed is mixed. Two posts say food was slow — steak after 30 minutes and mapo tofu after nearly 40, and a very long wait at a weekend peak. One post says everything arrived almost at once. Others note dishes come one by one rather than together.
  3. Five posts either handed their car to the valet or saw the valet sign out front. Many copy the same rate: parked at the lot opposite, 5,000 won for two hours, then 1,000 won per 10 minutes. One post warns the lane in front is too narrow to park.
  4. Eight posts arrived on foot or by bus, putting it 5–10 minutes from Exit 6 of Apgujeong Rodeo station; one says it is about 15 minutes' walk from Exit 1 of Apgujeong station and took the bus there.
  5. Six posts found portions large — surprised by the steak, or 'too much even for three'. Two took leftovers home.
  6. Seven posts saw high chairs and four noted coat racks; one post ate there with a baby at a family meal.
  7. Company is spread out: 7 posts went with friends, 4 with a partner, 3 with family, 3 in a group such as co-workers. Five posts were repeat visits.

Separate restrooms1 of 24 posts

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits — not that there is a problem, just that nobody wrote about it. One post notes the restaurant is on the ground floor and easy to walk into.

Two posts say the toilets are not inside the restaurant but in the building outside, on the ground floor; one of them notes separate men's and women's rooms.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queuing — possibly because most booked. Remarks that weekends may have a wait were advice, not experience.
  • Posts agree on daily hours of 11:30–22:00 with a 15:00–17:30 break, but mostly by copying the same listing. Last order differs: 20:50 (14:20 at lunch) in 8 posts, 21:00 in 3. Only one post says it is open every day of the year.
  • Prices vary by dish and date. The steak-and-japchae was 48,000 won in posts of 8 September and 3 October and 56,000 in posts of 5 and 10 October. Meat jjamppong appears at both 16,000 (3 posts) and 17,000 (2 posts) in the same month. Mapo tofu comes as a 16,000-won meal or a separate à la carte dish one post priced at 21,000. As a bill, two people paid 79,000 won (lunch set and draught beer) and 89,000 (one dish, two meals); three paid 139,000 including liquor.
  • Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1346-7436. Booking is via Naver or CatchTable; posts copy a note that groups of five or more and room bookings should phone the restaurant. One post found no soju on the list; many copy a paid corkage of 40,000 won for wine and 70,000 for spirits.
  • The story that the restaurant moved here from Gwangju, the chef's background, and awards like Blue Ribbon and Taste of Seoul are hearsay or copied from plaques and stickers at the door, so we did not count them. Posts mention a branch in the KT building at Gwanghwamun; one post about that branch was set aside.
  • Some dishes have changed. One returning visitor says the abalone jjajangmyeon (25,000 won) was not on the menu last year. Another was told by staff that the Hong Kong char siu had recently switched from pork belly to Iberico pork jowl.
  • Of the 24 visit posts, 4 say the restaurant supplied the meal in full or in part, 6 say they paid themselves, and 14 say nothing. The same block of address, hours, valet rate, room minimum, corkage and review-event discount recurs across many posts in nearly the same order.
