Naerimson Samgyetang

내림손삼계탕 Naerim-son means a 'handed-down hand' — cooking skill passed from one generation to the next; samgyetang is ginseng chicken soup.

Compiled from 30 blog posts read in fullSources →

Naerimson Samgyetang is a ginseng-chicken-soup house on the second floor of a building in an alley off exit 14 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (249-24 Jangchungdan-ro). The plain samgyetang is 17,000 won and the half portion 11,000 won; there are sanghwang-herb (19,000), mung bean and perilla (20,000) and neungi mushroom (21,000) versions, plus dakhanmari (medium 30,000), Andong braised chicken and spicy braised chicken. Kimchi, radish kimchi and a garlic-chili relish come in whole crocks for you to serve yourself. We read 30 posts dated 9 August to 14 October 2026, and every one describes an actual visit. One discloses sponsorship, one carries a review-program banner, two say they paid their own way, and the rest say nothing.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Space is the most repeated point: 28 of 30 posts called the hall large — tables running far back past what you see from the door, four-seaters alongside big group tables, burners set into each table. Several saw office or tour groups eating at lunch. The '60 pyeong' figure is copied from the shop's own listing.
  2. 13 posts said from experience that it's easy by subway — 'under three minutes on foot', 'one or two minutes' from exit 14 — though a couple admitted getting briefly lost in the alleys the first time.
  3. 14 posts called the staff or owner friendly; one watched the owner go out and buy makgeolli for customers, another joked that the server handed over the better-looking bowl.
  4. 11 posts said portions were large — two people stuffed on a medium dakhanmari, and even the half portion seemed to use a bigger bird than elsewhere.

  1. No one found it salty and two posts said explicitly it wasn't. Several said it arrived seasoned enough to skip the salt; one found it mild and added a little.

Parking

2 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park2 of 30 posts

Two posts actually drove: one parked at the Goodmorning City mall garage with validation while bringing parents, another took the garage lift up and walked about three minutes. The 'two hours free at Goodmorning City' line elsewhere is copied listing text; nobody said whether the building itself has parking.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Second floor18 of 30 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 30 posts read)
Separate restrooms1 of 30 posts

The restaurant is upstairs. 18 posts described going up to the second floor, six of them specifically by stairs. As one put it, it isn't visible from street level; posts repeatedly use the Emart24 and Olive Young at the alley mouth as landmarks.

No post placed it in a basement; 18 described going up to the second floor.

Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift in the building — six posts simply walked up the stairs. That means we don't know, not that there isn't one.

Only one post actually used the toilet: it is outside the restaurant door, just opposite, separated by sex and clean. Two others only noted seeing it by the entrance. 'Separate men's and women's toilets' elsewhere is copied listing text.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No one reported waiting. One post saw tables refill as soon as they emptied at lunch on malbok, another found it busy even off-peak. Two posts mention reservations: one booked the day before, another saw window tables reserved.
  • Opening hours: 16 posts give 10:00–21:00 daily, mostly copied from the listing; one says 10:00–22:00 on weekdays. Nobody gave a last-order time, though one advised ordering by 8 p.m.
  • Phone: nine posts give 0507-1339-0130 and two give 02-2265-0118. We don't know which one takes reservations.
  • Four posts said it isn't expensive, comparing the 17,000-won bowl with about 19,000 elsewhere. The plain samgyetang price is consistent, but the mung bean version was recorded at 14,000 won in one post and 20,000 in another.
  • Two things changed. A post from 12 August 2026 found the ground floor under construction and the entrance hard to find; one from 1 October said the building interior had since been renovated. An August post also noted the shop no longer sells or serves infused liquor.
  • Many posts repeat the same three search phrases and the same facts ('35 years', '60 pyeong', '135 m from exit 14') in the same order; one discloses sponsorship and another carries a review-program banner. Claims like 'opened 1990', '24 herbs' and 'domestic chicken' are the shop's own words and we don't count them. The sign says 'since 1978', so even the founding year is disputed.
