Korean

GYUBAN

규반 Gyuban Ban (반) is a common word for a meal or cooked rice; none of the posts explains the first syllable, gyu.

Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →

Gyuban is a Korean set-course restaurant on the ground floor of the Douzone Euljiro Tower, right by Euljiro 1-ga station. Posts describe it as chef Kim Ji-young's place (she oversaw the food for the TV drama Dae Jang Geum); the courses follow the seasonal calendar and draw on royal-court and aristocratic home cooking, served only in private rooms. In recent posts lunch is 98,000 won with a pork main or 138,000 won with Korean beef, and dinner is 196,000 won. Five of the twelve visits were formal meetings between two families before a wedding. We read 22 posts from 9 July 2025 to 26 September 2026: 12 describe a visit, 6 only introduce, list or book it, and 4 were about other restaurants and set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All twelve visitors ate in a private room. Several posts say every seat is in a room; one counted five rooms holding about ten people each. Two posts had a room with floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto a small planted garden rather than the street, and four described it as quiet.
  2. Of the nine posts that say who they went with, six went with family, five of them for a pre-wedding family meeting; couples arrived early to lay out gifts and printed programmes. One was told there is no special table setting for such meetings. The rest were two work lunches and one gathering of friends.
  3. Four posts said the seasoning was light, and one added that the mild taste might not suit everyone. No post called it salty.
  4. Opinions on portions split: one post was taken aback by how small the side dishes were, while two said the portions looked small but they were full by the end of the course.
2 more
  1. Four posts say they booked ahead, some through the CatchTable app. One confirmed the menu by phone about two days before (the two-days-ahead menu rule appears only in copied listings). Another was asked how fast the courses should come and told tables can be used for up to three hours.
  2. Three posts describe walking in from the subway: the building is right at exit 1-1 of Euljiro 1-ga station, and one notes the sign is on the far side of the building from the exit.

Two posts drove and parked in the building: one found the underground car park clean and roomy, the other said the restaurant validated plenty of parking time. That it is free appears only in the copied info blocks.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Three posts describe walking in from the subway: the building is right at exit 1-1 of Euljiro 1-ga station, and one notes the sign is on the far side of the building from the exit.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 12 posts read)

Two posts confirm it is on the ground floor; one said everyone in the group still got lost because it is hard to spot. No one mentions going downstairs. Another restaurant, Vertice, is in the same building's basement.

No post says anything about a step at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is a problem.

Nobody says whether the toilets are inside the restaurant or separated by gender; one post only mentions her father going to the toilet.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 18 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices differ by date. An August 2025 list gave lunch at 89,000 won (pork) to 114,000 won (beef) and dinner from 165,000 won; from September 2025 posts give 98,000 won for pork, and from November 2025 130,000-138,000 won for beef and 196,000 won for dinner. One October 2025 visit still listed 89,000 and 114,000 won, so we cannot pin down when the change happened. One post found the deposit steep but did not say how much it was.
  • Opening hours: three visits all give Mon-Sat 11:30-22:00 with a 15:00-18:00 break and Sundays closed. All three copied this from listings, and none gives a last-order time. One list post that did not visit says it opens daily.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1322-1555 in four posts and 02-541-1555 in three. Bookings are by phone or through CatchTable.
  • No post mentions queuing, and none describes walking in without a booking, so we don't know whether walk-ins work. Two posts waited briefly in the entrance lounge with its ceramics before being shown to a room.
  • One post says it heard the restaurant used to be in Sinsa-dong before moving to Euljiro. That is hearsay, and every post we read dates from after the move, so we did not count it.
  • Some posts carry less weight. One visit was a hosted Glen Grant whisky-pairing event, and one is a magazine feature. A list post copied sentences almost word for word from another blogger's visit, so we left it out.
