연남물갈비 Yeonnam is the neighborhood (Yeonnam-dong); mulgalbi, literally 'water galbi', is galbi simmered in a spicy broth as a hotpot instead of grilled.

A mulgalbi hotpot house on Donggyo-ro 25-gil 37, in the Yeonnam-dong lanes off exits 1 and 2 of Hongik Univ. Station. The pot arrives with thin-sliced beef piled into a mound and a little Korean flag on top; underneath are bean sprouts, water parsley, mushrooms and glass noodles, with beef back ribs at the bottom. Seven posts from people who went give 42,000 won for two. There are three heat levels, a dipping sauce you mix yourself from garlic, chili and soy (the 'Dokdo sauce'), and fried rice in the leftover broth to finish. Lunch has a 14,000-won per-person special. We read 27 posts dated 2 January to 2 October 2026; 16 record actually eating here, and 4 were about other restaurants or other branches and were set aside.

What sets it apart
- Once the pot boils, a staff member comes over to work on it: six posts describe them pulling the back ribs off the bone, cutting them, and arranging the pot so you just eat. Two posts timed the wait to that point at about 10–15 minutes and about 10 minutes.
- Portion size is the most repeated point: 11 of the 16 visit posts mention it. One said a two-person pot would do for three; one couldn't finish the free 100 g of extra meat from the review promotion; another was stuffed with just the pot and one fried rice. Two noted that under the meat is a deep mound of bean sprouts.
- No post reports waiting. Six say they walked straight in: Saturday at noon, Saturday at 7 pm, a weekday at 7 pm, early weekday evening, early evening on a public holiday, and a weekday office lunch. One Sunday-morning visitor did notice the hall was nearly full by the time they finished, and posts mention remote queuing via the Tabling app and a waiting kiosk at the door.
- Eight posts call it spicy; one disagreed, saying it wasn't hot enough to make you wince. You choose from three levels — posts liken level 1 to Shin Ramyun and level 2 to Buldak noodles. Most picked level 1; one self-described spice lover still found it hotter than expected.

No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That isn't a no — nobody wrote about it. Note the restroom is outside the building.
Two posts say the restroom is outside the restaurant: one notes it is outside the building and separated by gender, the other that the door code is posted inside. One post called it clean.

- From June to September 2026 the mulgalbi is consistently 42,000 won for two. One January 2026 post wrote 36,000 won — the same as the listed price of the sandeomi hotpot — so we can't tell whether the price rose or the post named a different dish. One pair paid 62,000 won including drinks; two posts said it isn't cheap but felt fair.
- Fourteen visit posts list opening hours, all copied from the map listing: 11:30–23:00 daily, with a break of 15:00–17:00 on weekdays and 16:00–17:00 on weekends in most versions. Weekday dinner last order is mostly given as 22:10; one post says 21:10. Check before going.
- Eight posts give the phone number as 0507-1383-9211 and two as 02-333-9211. Several copy that Naver booking is available, and one post carries a Naver reservation badge.
- A separate restaurant with a similar name and menu, Hongdae Mulgalbi, is nearby on Hongik-ro, and two posts mixed them up. None of the posts disclose sponsorship; seven say they paid themselves, and five mention getting 100 g of extra meat or similar through the review promotion.
