Western Tacos

웨스턴타코 Weseuteon Tako Simply 'Western Tacos' — a nod to the American West; one blogger notes the room feels more American than Mexican, and the name says as much.

Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →

A small taco shop in the alley behind Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station (90 Worldcup-buk-ro 2-gil, Donggyo-dong). You order at a kiosk, pick your table number, and the tacos are brought to you. Tacos are sold singly — carnitas (pork), birria (beef), tripa (beef tripe) — alongside fries, wings and draft beer. A taco cost 5,400 won (carnitas) and 5,900 won (birria) in January–February 2026 posts, and 5,900 and 6,900 won by May. A neighbour's post says it opened on 14 July 2025. We read 30 posts dated April 2025 to October 2026; 15 of them, from September 2025 to June 2026, are about this shop, and all 15 describe an actual visit. The other 15 only shared the word 'Western' and were set aside.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Eight posts say the portions are big. One says the fries alone would fill two people; others say the toppings spill out and the tacos are much bigger than expected. No post called them small.
  2. Seven posts call the shop small; none call it spacious. One post counted the seats: two four-person tables, a five-stool bar facing the kitchen, and a two-seater and a four-to-five-seater by the back door. Seven posts confirm there is somewhere to sit, and two mention entrances at both front and back.
  3. Seven posts mention outdoor seating. One counted about four outdoor tables and sat outside; another notes that in good weather the window bar opens so people can sit facing it from outside.
  4. Six posts ordered at the kiosk: choose dine-in, pick your table number, and the food comes to you. On clearing up, a February 2026 post returned trays to a drop-off at the end of the bar, while a May post quotes a sign asking diners to leave their dishes on the table.

  1. Eight posts say it is close to the station: out of Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station and into the alley by the Hongik Ingan officetel or across from Olive Young. Most say one to three minutes on foot; one post said five to seven.
  2. Four posts call something sweet — mostly the honey-butter garlic sauce on the fries, which one likens to the butter-garlic fries at Korean tteokbokki shops. Two describe the carnitas sauce as sweetish.
  3. Four posts drank beer here. A neighbour who lives across the street wrote three posts in September 2025 about dropping in only for beer; Guinness on draft was 11,000 won for 500 ml, Terra draft 5,000 won.
  4. One post comes from a neighbour who watched the build-out: two young owners did nearly all the interior work themselves.
  5. Company varies: alone in two posts, as a couple in three, with family in two, with friends in two, and a group of three in one. Both solo diners sat at the bar.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

8 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

No post describes the floor from experience. The address says ground floor and several posts mention a terrace and window seats, but nobody stated it directly.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post ends with a copied line listing 'accessible facilities', which we did not count. One post visited with a baby.

No post mentions where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender. That means unknown, not absent.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Heat is disputed: two posts found it spicy, one found it mild and had to ask staff for hot sauce.
  • Prices went up: January–February 2026 posts list carnitas at 5,400, birria at 5,900 and the solo set at 9,500 won; May posts list 5,900, 6,900 and 9,900. Five posts call it good value; one June post paid 17,000 won for two.
  • The menu has shifted: the chorizo taco appears from May 2026, and two June posts could not order the taco rice or wings. A post from 20 June 2026 copied a notice of a remodel reopening on 9 July 2026; we have no posts since, so seating, menu and prices after the remodel are unknown.
  • Opening hours changed over time: posts from September 2025 to February 2026 give 11:30–23:00 with a 15:00–16:00 break; four May 2026 posts give 11:30–22:00 daily (last order 21:00); two June posts give 11:00–22:00 Sunday to Thursday and 11:30–22:00 Friday and Saturday. One post says it closes early when ingredients run out, so check before going.
  • No post describes waiting. One went at 8 pm and walked straight in. One found the limited tripa taco sold out.
  • Phone numbers differ: 070-4414-1322 (two May 2026 posts), 0507-1321-1484 (two posts), 0507-1356-7942 (one). Reservations appear only in copied listing details.
  • Three posts carry the same five hashtags; one of them gives no prices and reads like it paraphrases the menu copy, so it may be promotional. It names what was ordered, so we still counted it.
