Sobahauseu Menyajun
소바하우스 멘야준 Soba House (soba meaning noodles) is put in front of Menya Jun — menya is Japanese for a noodle shop — because this is the second shop of Menya Jun, whose first shop is in Hapjeong.

Soba House Menya Jun is a ramen shop at 84 Worldcup-buk-ro 6-gil in Mapo, on the Yeonnam-dong side of Donggyo-dong; posts describe it as the second shop of Menya Jun in Hapjeong. There are two broths — shoyu (chicken stock with a soy tare) and shiro shoyu (white soy) — priced by topping set: chashu, wonton, or the full-topping teukseon. In posts from June 2026 on, the full shoyu bowl is 16,500 won and the full shiro shoyu 16,800 won, and 1,000 won swaps in hand-kneaded noodles. You order first at a kiosk by the door, then sit at the bar or a table; the waitlist runs on the CatchTable app. Up to April 2026 the same two bowls were 15,500 and 15,800 won, and in between the shop closed for works and reopened. We read 30 posts dated 26 November 2025 to 13 October 2026; 26 of them are first-hand visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Expect to wait. Eighteen posts waited or saw a queue; four walked straight in. The waits they recorded: 3 minutes (Friday 5:46 pm, one group ahead), 5 minutes (after joining the list remotely), 20 minutes (weekend 6 pm), 35 minutes (weekday lunch), about an hour (Sunday evening, 16th in line), 1 hour 16 minutes (12 groups ahead) and 1.5 to 2 hours (weekend evening). One post found 20 groups ahead on a public holiday, another more than 60 on a weekend. The four who did not wait came near opening on a weekday (two), at 12:30 on a weekday (one), and at opening on a weekend (one). The list runs on CatchTable, and several posts advise joining remotely and waiting nearby.
- Six posts say there are chairs out front for people waiting. One read a sign asking waiting guests to use those chairs and not to drop cigarette butts; another saw a sign asking people to join via CatchTable and wait away from the doorway so as not to block the street.
- Three posts from June to August 2026 say cold barley tea is set out for people in the queue; three more mention only water left outside.
- You order first at the kiosk by the entrance — five posts say so. One adds that after paying, a staff member collects the ticket and shows you to a seat.
8 more
- There are both bar seats and tables. Seventeen posts describe where they sat, and twelve of those mention tables as well as the bar. Three put the bar at about eight seats; table counts vary from post to post — three two-seat tables, two four-seat tables, four tables plus the counter. Four posts note the bar looks into an open kitchen where you can watch the chashu being torched and bowls assembled, and several saw the noodle room through a glass window.
- Opinions on size split: seven posts call it small or snug, two call it roomier than most ramen shops — one of them citing a wide aisle and more than 15 seats.
- Ten posts call it clean, pointing to the modern wood-toned interior, the bright room, non-disposable tableware and a tray laid at each seat; one said the restroom was very clean.
- Saltiness splits: seven posts found it salty, five did not, and two were undecided. Several mention a table note from the shop saying it uses no MSG and the strong umami can read as salty — that is the shop's own claim, so we did not count it. Several posts found the shiro shoyu less salty than the shoyu.
- Five posts saw a sheet at each seat listing ingredient origins. The details that recur in posts — Jeju Gueom and Gyeryongsan native chicken stock, a tare blended from seven soy sauces, binchotan-smoked chashu — are copied from that sheet.
- Six posts call it expensive. One paid 38,300 won for two full-topping bowls with two eggs, a shumai and a noodle swap — close to 20,000 won a bowl once you add an egg; another paid 28,000 won for one full shoyu bowl with hand-kneaded noodles, a chashu plate, an egg and an oolong tea.
- It is a walk from Hongik University station. Five posts describe the way, putting it at 7 minutes (two posts), 8 minutes and 10 minutes, from exit 2 or 3.
- Company varies: three posts went alone, three with friends, two as a couple and one with family. Several note the bar suits solo diners and that many diners were on their own.

Parking
2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Two posts say the shop has no parking of its own, and several repeat the advice to use nearby public lots. One saw room for one or two cars out front but was not sure parking there was allowed. One post says they drove.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
It is a walk from Hongik University station. Five posts describe the way, putting it at 7 minutes (two posts), 8 minutes and 10 minutes, from exit 2 or 3.
Getting inside
No post describes the floor level. The address says ground floor, but nobody mentions steps up or down on the way in — that means no one wrote about it, not that there are none.
Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post waited 1 hour 16 minutes with a baby but does not say whether a stroller went inside.
We do not know whether the restroom is inside the shop or split by gender; one post only says it was very clean.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices rose between spring and summer 2026. Posts from January to April 2026, and a 2025 visit, list the full shoyu bowl at 15,500 won, the full shiro shoyu at 15,800 and the chashu shiro shoyu at 12,500; posts from June 2026 on list 16,500, 16,800 and 13,800. Two posts say the shop closed for works and reopened in that gap, but nobody describes what, if anything, changed in the seating or menu.
- Eighteen posts give the same hours, 11:00 to 20:00, though most are copied from listings. Eleven say the 15:00–17:00 break applies on weekdays only, three say daily, and three call the break temporary. Two say there is no closing day. If you plan a weekend afternoon visit, check whether the break applies. Posts also mention one-off late-night sessions after 9 pm in November 2025 and October 2026; we left those out of the hours.
- Nine posts list the phone number, 0507-1396-0727. The waitlist runs on CatchTable, but no post says you can book a table in advance. One post mentions booking on CatchTable before arriving at opening on a weekend, but it is unclear whether that was a reservation or just a place on the waitlist. That does not mean booking is impossible, only that no post says so clearly.
