Sakebar Sinkon
사케바신콘 Shinkon is the Japanese reading of 新婚, 'newlyweds' — one diner wrote that the owner, newly married himself, named it so guests would feel that first-days flutter.

A small sake bar half a flight up in a Yeonnam-dong alley (Yanghwa-ro 23-gil 10-10), a short walk from Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station. Ten posts say every seat is at the bar; you tell the owner what you like, drink his pick by the glass or bottle, and eat sashimi, torched mackerel pressed sushi and pasta alongside. The daily sashimi (ordered in 19 posts) and mackerel sushi (10) lead. Sashimi was 30,000 won in 2025 and 32,000 won in a June 2026 post; two posts put glass sake from 12,000 won. We read 30 posts from February 2025 to October 2026, set aside 4 about other places, and counted 23 actual visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Eleven posts say they booked, mostly through CatchTable; one noted almost nobody seated was a walk-in. The mackerel pressed sushi has to be pre-ordered with the booking — one same-day booker was told it couldn't be made, though another who asked at 10 pm in March 2026 got it. One post walked in without a booking in March 2025 and waited an hour.
- Ten posts describe bar-only seating — 'all counter seats', an L-shaped bar where groups of three or four sat around the corner. Two mention an open kitchen where you watch the fish being prepped, and several note each seat gets a different chopstick rest and cup. One group of five went, but another post called the room too small for anything but small parties.
- Nine posts mention a free starter of spicy pickled celtuce stems set down as you sit; one kept getting refills and another liked it enough to order a pack online.
- Six posts call it quiet enough to talk. One Sunday 7:30 pm visit in July 2026 found only a couple and one solo drinker besides themselves.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 5 (of 23 posts read) |
|---|
It is half a floor up, not below ground — five posts describe climbing to the '1.5th floor'. Five put it two to three minutes from Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station.
No one wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means unreported, not absent. One post does note you climb stairs to the half-floor entrance. 'No kids' appears only in copied listings.
No one said whether the restroom is inside or split by gender; one post only mentioned it was stocked with toiletries and smelled nice.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 26 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices have risen: the mackerel sushi went from 25,000 won (July–August 2025) to 28,000 won (2026), the daily sashimi from 30,000 won (four 2025 posts) to 32,000 won (June 2026). One post gave a full bill — 97,000 won for two in July 2026. Three posts found it pricey, two thought it fair for what you get.
- Hours and closing day appear to have changed. 2025 posts give 6 pm–2 am, last order 12:30, closed Sundays. A July 2026 post visited on a Sunday evening and a September 2026 post lists Monday as the day off. Closing time splits seven posts at 2 am to three at 1 am — mostly copied listings, so check before going.
- Two phone numbers circulate: 0507-1431-3217 in four posts, 02-6489-3217 in three. Bookings go through CatchTable; a 2025 post quoting the CatchTable page says bookings after 11 pm are by phone.
- We didn't count three posts: one stitched together other bloggers' sentences word for word, one republished the listing and visitor reviews, and one compiled a sake-bar roundup from public info. A 2.5-hour limit when full and the owner buying fish at Noryangjin daily are hearsay or copied, so we left them out.
