Onjeong Tendon
온정텐동 Onjeong means warm-heartedness, and tendon is the Japanese tempura-over-rice bowl the house is built around.

A tendon shop in a half-basement on an alley off Yanghwa-ro 23-gil, near Exit 3 of Hongik University Station. You order at a kiosk by the door before sitting; twelve posts mention the kiosk. The signature Onjeong Tendon has been 12,900 won since September 2025, served on one tray with a poached egg, miso soup, salad and pickled radish. Several posts say to move the tempura onto a side plate and mix the egg into the rice, and that tongs and scissors are set at each seat. We read 30 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 26 describe an actual visit. One was about a different restaurant and three only introduced the place, so we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Fifteen posts call the tempura crisp; none call it soggy. One said the batter held up even after sitting a while; another compared the fried laver to a crunch bar. Four said it was not greasy and one found it a bit greasy. One post thought the vegetable fritter tasted frozen.
- Ten posts say the portions are large: one self-described big eater still found it a lot, and another saw the next table leave food behind. A lunch-tendon diner left about half. Two posts got refills, one of rice and one of pickled radish.
- Two posts waited: 20 minutes after signing the notebook at a weekend lunch, and one party ahead around 2:30 pm on a weekday. Five sat down right away, on a weekend, a Friday evening, a rainy day, a late weekday evening and a stormy afternoon. One post noted the waitlist notebook at the entrance, and that you lose your turn if you are not there when called. Two posts say there is nowhere to wait inside, only about three chairs or a bench outside.
- Three posts say the food was slow because everything is fried to order: over 30 minutes, 25 minutes, and 'on the slow side'. The 30-minute diner noted there was no order number or buzzer, checked whether the order had been lost, and said they would not return. One post said food came quickly.
1 more
- Many posts recommend it for solo diners because of the counter seats, but only one actually went alone. Four went as a couple, two with friends, and one with young nieces and nephews. One post said most tables seat two, making groups hard; another noted four- and six-seat tables in the back room.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 6 of 25 posts |
|---|---|
| Step at the entrance | 1 of 25 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read) |
Six posts describe going down stairs to a basement or half-basement. One found the half-basement stuffy and not cool even with the air conditioning at 16 degrees; two others found it nicely cool. One post warned that the threshold at the inner door is easy to trip on.
No post mentions getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. The shop is down a flight of stairs, and nobody mentioned a lift. That does not mean there is none, only that no one wrote about it.
No post says whether the toilet is inside the shop. One noted it is a single unisex room, so knock first.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No sign of a move: every post from November 2024 to October 2026 gives the same basement address at Yanghwa-ro 23-gil 10-10.
- Opening hours changed. Posts from November 2024 to June 2025 give 11:00-22:00 daily (last order 21:00); thirteen posts from June 2026 on give 11:00-23:00 daily (last order 21:30). Most are copied listings, and several add that it may close early when ingredients run out. Two posts say it is open every day, with no afternoon break.
- The Onjeong Tendon went from 12,500 won in November 2024 to 12,900 won from September 2025. In 2026 posts the range runs from the 7,900-won mini tendon to the 18,500-won eel tendon; one couple paid 29,400 won for a tendon, a gyudon set and a soda. Seven posts call the prices cheap or fair; none call them expensive.
- No post says whether reservations are taken. Twelve posts list the phone number 02-6408-1750.
- Two August 2026 introductions by the same blogger, written to the same template, only summarise 'what reviews say', so we did not count them. Many posts repeat the offer of free tteokbokki or a drink for writing a review; two say they actually got it.
