NYANYAKUN
냐냐쿤 Nyanyakun Nyanya imitates a cat's meow in Japanese (one post points this out) and -kun is a familiar Japanese suffix for a boy, so roughly 'Mr. Meow' — hence the cat mascot on the sign.
Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →
Nyanyakun is a Japanese-style izakaya on the second floor of 97 Worldcupbuk-ro 2-gil, right outside Exit 3 of Hongik University Station. Under a cat-mascot sign it serves 15,800-won pot-rice (sotbap) sets at lunch and, in the evening, beef-intestine hotpot that can be ordered as a single portion, with drinks. You scoop the rice out, pour broth into the pot and finish with scorched-rice porridge; ordering is by tablet or kiosk at the table. We read 30 posts dated 9 June to 16 October 2026; 29 record an actual visit and one is a multi-restaurant list. The registered listing is 'Nyanyakun Yeonnam' on the third floor of the same building, but most posts checked in to the second-floor 'Nyanyakun Hongdae Izakaya'; posts say one shop uses both floors, so we treat them as one.

Rows without a count: 7 of 12 posts.
Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Closeness to the station is the most repeated point: 19 posts said it is an easy walk from Hongik University Station, nearly all naming Exit 3 — two said '10 seconds on foot', several said one minute. One writer was glad on a rainy evening to walk straight in from the station.
- The single-portion hotpot keeps drawing 'is this really one serving?'. 17 posts said portions were large; one was disappointed by how little intestine there was. Udon or ramen noodles come in the hotpot at no extra charge.
- Heat depends on the dish: 7 posts called their food spicy and one said it was mild enough to enjoy. Four of the seven were the mala hotpot; the others were the signature hotpot ('a little spicy for me'), the seafood hotpot ('spicier than I expected') and the cockle pot rice. Two posts suggest asking for it milder in advance.
- 9 posts ordered on a tablet or kiosk at the table, with no need to call staff; posts also mention the menu in English and Japanese.
3 more
- 11 posts talk about the window seats, where the big windows open onto the street outside the station. One writer, though, had a headache throughout the meal from cigarette smoke drifting in through the open window.
- 8 posts saw the receipt-review event: write a review and you get either a small fried snack or a drink. One post received fries, gimmari and takoyaki.
- 6 posts called it cheap or fairly priced and none called it expensive. A repeat visitor felt prices had gone up a little since the first visit but gave no earlier figures, so we did not record a change.

Parking
1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Only one post dealt with parking first-hand: there is none at the shop, so the writer parked in the building opposite. A 'no parking' line appears in six other posts, but it is copied from the listing and we did not count it.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 7 of 29 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 7 (of 29 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 2 of 29 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 1 (of 29 posts read) |
You eat upstairs: 7 posts went up to the second floor, one noting a cookie shop on the ground floor. The shop also has a third floor, but a September post said only the second floor was open at lunch and a June post found the third floor unused. The third-floor bar seats and rooftop appear only as hearsay, so we did not count them.
No one mentioned a step at the door, a lift, or wheelchair or stroller access — that means we don't know, not that there is none. Three posts walked up a staircase to the second floor.
Two posts, both by the same blogger, said the toilet is inside the shop; another said it is unisex. Nobody else said where it is.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post reported queuing. One said it was busy from 5 p.m. on a weekend evening and another guessed there might be a weekend wait. That means no one wrote about waiting, not that there is never a wait.
- Opening hours appear in 12 posts, mostly copied from the listing. Nine say it opens at 11:00 and three say 11:30. Most give closing as 23:30 Monday to Thursday and 01:30 Friday to Sunday, with last orders 30 minutes earlier; one post differs, with 01:00 at weekends and last orders at 22:30. Two posts say there is no afternoon break.
- A meal runs 15,800 won for a pot-rice set and 15,800 to 19,800 won for a single-portion hotpot. Bills in the posts: two pot rices for 31,600 won; two pot rices, a hotpot and a highball for over 50,000 won; a pot rice, two snacks and three soju for 70,600 won. No post listed the whole menu's prices.
- Six posts give the phone number 010-2984-7836; two others give different 0507 numbers, one labelled for reservations. No post describes actually booking.
- The posts cluster in August to October 2026, five of them on 29 September alone, and eight end with the same five hashtags in the same order. Only two disclose sponsorship or a free meal, but some may be commissioned. Each still records what was ordered and paid, so we counted them.
