Nippongnaeppong Hongdae

니뽕내뽕 홍대점 A word play: 'ni-ppong nae-ppong' reads as 'your ppong, my ppong' — ppong being short for jjamppong, which is why the dishes are called cha-ppong, keu-ppong, ro-ppong and the pizzas ni-pizza and nae-pizza.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

A branch of a fusion jjamppong chain, up one floor in a building near Hongik Univ. Station exit 8. People pair the smoky cha-ppong and the cream keu-ppong with tortilla-thin pizzas; the soda set — two noodle dishes, one pizza, one soda — came to ₩29,500 before surcharges (₩31,400–33,900 as ordered). You order and pay on the tablet or kiosk at each table. Mala and extra-hot mala jjamppong joined the menu in August 2026. We read 24 posts from February 2025 to October 2026; 23 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Easy by subway: ten posts say it is close to the station — nine put it two or three minutes (about 100 m) from exit 8, and one post says exit 9 instead.
  2. Ordering is done on a device at your seat — nine posts mention it, six calling it a tablet and three a kiosk. You pay up front, and one post notes there is no paper menu.
  3. Portions come up again and again: six posts call them large. One says two mains and a pizza was too much for two women; another regretted adding extra noodles.
  4. No one called it expensive; eight posts said it was good value, citing figures like three dishes for just over ₩30,000 or ₩9,000 for a bowl of il-ppong. One August 2026 post did note that prices are much higher than in the old days.
2 more
  1. Many posts are return visits: twelve say they had been before, three of them after roughly ten years away. The recurring line is that this was where they ate in high school or college.
  2. Heat depends on the dish and level. Five posts called their food hot — two had level-2 cha-ppong or meat jjamppong, two the extra-hot mala, one the regular mala. Three who had the spicy cream or rosé versions were split between manageable and too hot for a companion.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Easy by subway: ten posts say it is close to the station — nine put it two or three minutes (about 100 m) from exit 8, and one post says exit 9 instead.

Getting inside

Second floor10 of 22 posts
Toilet inside6 of 22 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 22 posts

The restaurant is on the second floor: ten posts say so, and three describe walking up the stairs. Three mention the Chabaekdo tea shop downstairs, and two mention big windows looking out on the street.

We don't know about wheelchair or stroller access. No post mentions a step or an elevator; three describe taking the stairs up, and one says the glass door is very stiff to pull open.

The toilet is inside the restaurant, according to six posts — one notes there is also a toilet on the stairwell, but the in-house one is by the counter. Two posts say it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waits are unclear. Only one post saw an actual line form — seated right away just after 5 p.m. on a weekday, with people waiting later. Another said lunch is busy but they didn't wait long; two only guessed there might be a wait. Three mention a bench outside the door for waiting.
  • Friends were the most common company (nine posts), then coworkers (three), solo diners (two), and one each with a husband and with a child. One office worker said plenty of people eat alone here.
  • Opening hours: ten posts all list 11:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. daily with last order at 9 p.m., though most copied this from an info box or a Naver widget. Two say there is no afternoon break. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1333-1908 in five posts, 02-322-1908 in two. No post says whether you can book — that's a gap, not a no. One post saw a notice that seats are assigned at peak times.
  • Five posts mention a free drink for posting a receipt review, and one copied the condition that the review must include the tags 'Hongdae eats, Hongdae jjamppong, Hongdae pasta'. Six posts are titled 'Hongdae pasta restaurant', so some reviews were likely written for the event. Three posts around the August 2026 mala launch follow the same script; only one disclosed a hosted meal.
  • Prices: each dish's price appears in only one or two posts, so we can't track changes over time. Keu-ppong was ₩10,900 alone in August 2026; ro-ppong was ₩11,900 in both April 2025 and August 2026. The soda set held at ₩29,500 before surcharges from February 2025 through August 2026.
