Jeongwongak
정원각 Jeongwon means garden and gak a pavilion, so the name reads as 'garden pavilion'; no post explains why the house chose it.

Jeongwongak is a neighborhood Chinese-Korean restaurant in the basement of 182-3 Dongyo-ro, near Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station. Jjajangmyeon is 7,000 won, and on weekdays from 10:30 to 17:00 one dish a day goes for 8,000 to 9,000 won. Posts describe solo diners and office workers at lunch, and groups drinking over sweet-and-sour pork and yangjangpi late at night. We read 27 posts from December 2024 to September 2026; 22 describe actually eating here. Four posts about the tonkatsu shop upstairs mentioned Jeongwongak only as a landmark, and we set them aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Eleven posts described the weekday specials. In the 2026 posts, from 10:30 to 17:00: Monday japchae rice 8,000 won, Tuesday sweet-and-sour pork plate 9,000, Wednesday shrimp fried rice 8,000, Thursday pork-and-noodle combos 9,000, Friday teukbap 8,000. Several posts said the board stands outside the door, and one diner plans visits around it.
- Cheapness comes up almost everywhere. Eleven posts said it is not expensive; one December 2024 post felt the portions were small for the price and left it open. A group of six had large sweet-and-sour pork, small yangjangpi and drinks for 86,000 won.
- The sweet-and-sour pork arrives with the sauce already on, yet seven posts said the batter stayed crisp, one 'to the last piece'. One noted no off smell.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 12 of 20 posts |
|---|
You go down to a basement. Twelve posts said so or described the stairs down. One mentioned a graffiti-covered shutter, a bright red door and a narrow stairway; another warned that the stairs are steeper than they look; one first-timer saw the shutter down and thought the place was closed.
We do not know about wheelchair or stroller access. Many posts mention the stairs down, but none mention a lift or another way in. That means no one wrote about it, not that there is none.
One post said there is a toilet on the left by the entrance, which does not tell us whether it is inside the restaurant. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing text, which we did not count.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 21 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Portions split six to three, with two undecided. One post said even the set's pork filled two people; others found the noodles a bit small or the medium yangjangpi smaller than expected.
- Prices have gone up. The pork-and-two-jjajang set was 24,000 won in March 2026 and 27,000 in July 2026; jjamppong went from 8,000 (through August 2025) to 9,000 (July 2026); the Thursday combo from 8,000 in December 2024 to 9,000 in 2026. Check the date of any price you rely on.
- Waiting barely comes up. One post waited briefly when it was full, one found it quiet, and one saw it nearly full at lunch but said food came quickly.
- Few posts say who they came with: one group of three friends, one date, one party of six; the rest mention a coworker or spouse in passing or say nothing.
- Opening hours come from copied listing text in nine posts: eight say 10:30 to 00:30 daily, one December 2024 post says it opens at 10:00. No post mentions a closing day. Posts do describe late visits, at 20:30 and a party running until about 1 a.m.
- Five posts give the phone number 0507-1401-3324; one gives a different number. No post describes making a reservation.
