Izakaya Yeonjeong

이자카야 연정 An izakaya is a Japanese-style pub; yeonjeong is a Korean word for romantic affection — no post explains why the house chose the name.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Izakaya Yeonjeong is a Japanese-style pub on the second floor of a building a short walk from Hongik University Station exit 3, facing the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. It serves sashimi, skewers and hot pots such as jjamppong and oden nabe, and post after post mentions soju and beer at 3,000 won. The most-ordered dishes in visit posts are the one-person sashimi plate (13,000 won, 12 posts) and Nagasaki jjamppong (23,000–24,000 won, 9 posts). Posts from June 2026 on say it opens at 11 a.m. and serves lunch; 2025 posts had it opening at 4 p.m. (noon on weekends). Twelve posts give the phone number 0507-1370-9339. We read 30 posts from March 2025 to October 2026; 22 record eating here. Five were about other places or were directories, and three only copied the shop's listing and review counts, so we did not count them.

Rows without a count: 9 of 12 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The window counter is what most posts are about: 15 mention the window seats or the big glass front. It is a side-by-side bar facing the Forest Park — one writer liked that 'you see every passing dog' — and three posts say the windows or folding doors were open to the breeze. One writer thought the place has little going for it if you don't get a window seat.
  2. Soju and beer cost 3,000 won. Of the 15 posts that mention a discount, 14 give this price, unchanged from July 2025 to October 2026; one notes highballs, Hallasan and Chungha are excluded. The remaining one is about 2,000 won off for pairing okonomiyaki with karaage.
  3. Seating mixes a window bar, a bar facing the kitchen, and two- and four-person tables; 13 posts describe the layout and two people sat at the bar alone. One post (August 2025) says the two-tops are divided by partitions, another reckons tables for seven or eight groups of four. Four posts ordered on a tablet or kiosk, and one found the device made the narrow bar seat cramped.
  4. It is close to the station: 12 posts say it is an easy walk from Hongik University Station, anywhere from twenty seconds to five minutes from exit 3.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 22 posts

Parking is unknown. One post says there is none and came by subway; several copy the shop's advice to use a nearby public car park, and one copied block even says 'parking: yes'. Nobody actually parked there.

Getting inside

Second floor12 of 22 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 12 (of 22 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 22 posts

The bar is upstairs, reached by stairs: 12 posts describe it as second-floor and 6 describe climbing the stairs, one locating them to the right of a ground-floor fish-bread stall. Two warn that the stairs are steep.

No post says whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in, or whether there is a lift — that means we don't know, not that there isn't one. Six posts climbed stairs, and two called them steep.

One post (August 2025) says the toilet is inside the bar. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in a copied shop listing; no visitor described them.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No one reports waiting: four posts walked straight in (a weekday at 7 p.m., 4 p.m. on 29 August, and so on), and one notes waiting chairs at the top of the stairs. One says a 2.5-hour limit applies when full, and two say they could book (several copy the notice that bookings are weekdays only). Nobody describes a weekend evening.
  • Opening hours changed. Posts from March to August 2025 give 4 p.m. opening Monday–Friday and noon at weekends; an October 2025 post says 1 p.m. weekdays, noon weekends. All 12 posts from June 2026 that list hours say it opens at 11 a.m., and 9 of them say it closes at 2 a.m. Monday–Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday–Sunday. Most of these are copied from the listing; only one says there is no closing day.
  • Prices have risen. The March 2025 listing had the one-person sashimi at 11,000 won and Nagasaki jjamppong at 20,000; from August 2025 the sashimi is 13,000, and the jjamppong is 23,000 in July–August 2026 and 24,000 for the spicy version in September. Spicy brisket jjamppong went from 25,000 (August 2025) to 26,000 (June 2026). No post gives a total bill for a meal.
  • One post disagrees on the food: an August 2026 writer found the skewers strongly fishy-smelling, rated the sashimi at rock bottom, and won't return. Others liked both; on the spicy jjamppong, three found it hot and one did not.
  • Some posts look promotional: two share the same eight hashtags in the same order, one discloses sponsorship, one pastes a review-count widget, and two are look-alike summaries of ratings and review counts. We counted the ones that record a meal, but treated the shop's own lines ('fish brought in daily', 'handmade skewers') as copied claims, not evidence.
