Hwanggop Hwangso Gopchang
황곱 황소곱창 Hwanggop is a clipped form of hwangso gopchang, 'bull's small intestine' — the beef tripe the house grills.
Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →
Hwanggop Hwangso Gopchang is a beef-tripe grill on the first and second floors of 149 Eoulmadang-ro, between exits 7 and 8 of Hongik Univ. Station. Almost everyone orders the hwangso mixed platter — small and large intestine, abomasum and heart on one iron pan, 26,000 won per 250 g portion — which comes out par-grilled and is cut and finished at the table by staff, then closes with fried rice (4,000 won) or cheese fried rice (5,000 won). The free side is chilled acorn-jelly soup in summer and seafood stew the rest of the year. We read 31 posts from September 2025 to October 2026; 28 describe an actual visit. Two posts about another branch and another restaurant were set aside.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Staff do the grilling. Of 28 visit posts, 23 say staff or the owner cut and grilled the tripe at the table, and 11 say it arrives already par-grilled from the kitchen. Posts repeatedly describe the heart being served first onto your plate — one was told it toughens if cooked long — and the free green-onion kimchi being grilled in the middle of the pan. For fried rice, staff chop the leftovers and take them to the kitchen to fry.
- Evenings can mean a wait. Seven posts waited and two did not. One found seven groups ahead around 7:30 pm and waited about ten minutes; another was second in line on a Saturday at 4–5 pm and sat outside briefly. Of the two with no wait, one arrived Friday at 7 pm to 'zero teams', the other came early at 5. A CatchTable tablet at the door takes your phone number and sends your turn by KakaoTalk; one post joined the queue remotely and walked over when notified.
- It is close to the station. Seven posts found it easy to reach from Hongik Univ. Station, two to three minutes on foot from exit 7; one self-described bad navigator found it first try, and another says the yellow bull-shaped sign is visible from afar at night.
- Many guests are foreign. Five posts noticed foreign diners while waiting or eating — Japanese and Western guests, and one foreigner eating beef sashimi alone. One post notes the menu has English names.

Parking
1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Many posts say there is no parking, but most copy the shop's listing. One post came by car and confirmed parking isn't possible; one suggests pre-booking the nearby Truparking lot at 4,500 won an hour, another the Hongik University car park.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
It is close to the station. Seven posts found it easy to reach from Hongik Univ. Station, two to three minutes on foot from exit 7; one self-described bad navigator found it first try, and another says the yellow bull-shaped sign is visible from afar at night.
Getting inside
| Second floor | 8 of 27 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 4 (of 27 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 3 of 27 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read) |
The restaurant uses two floors. Eight posts mention the second floor, one of them ate up there, and four say they sat on the ground floor. Two October 2026 posts found the ground-floor windows and folding doors thrown open, like eating on the street. One post explains the second floor has its own entrance under the sign to the right of the main door. One August 2026 post found only the ground floor open on a weekday, and another found the upstairs closed.
The second floor is newer. An August 2026 post by a regular of one to two years says it used to be ground floor only, with long waits, and had expanded upstairs by early 2026. The same post says the name used to be just Hwanggop.
No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means unknown, not absent. The second floor is reached through a separate entrance, and we don't know if there is a lift. One post felt the metal round tables and stools made it hard to bring children.
The toilet is inside — three posts say so, and two of them note it is shared by men and women. One mentions mouthwash left inside; two found it clean (one specifying the ground floor).
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opening hours appear in 22 visit posts, all copied from the shop's listing. Thirteen agree: Mon–Thu 17:00–23:00, Fri–Sat 15:00–24:00, Sun 15:00–23:00, last order 22:00 (23:00 Fri–Sat). Six say Sunday also runs to midnight, and single posts give a 17:00 Friday–Saturday opening, a 17:00 Sunday opening, or a 15:00 weekday opening. No post names a closing day; one says it opens every day.
- Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1492-8310 in eight posts, 02-337-8292 in three. Many posts copy that Naver booking and CatchTable remote queueing are available, but none actually booked; one notes specific tables can't be reserved.
- Prices are unchanged across posts from July to October 2026: 26,000 won per platter portion, 4,000 won fried rice, 5,500 won soju. The 2025 post gives no prices, so we can't tell whether they rose. Three posts found portions generous and two called it good value.
- The free broth changes with the season: posts from July to early October 2026 got acorn-jelly soup, an October 13 post got crab and seafood stew, and one recalls seafood stew in winter.
- Two posts disagree on the spicy ramyeon: on July 1, 2026 the broth was bland; on October 3 it was hotter than Shin Ramyun. With only two posts we can't say whether the recipe changed.
- One post differs on greasiness: a September 2025 post left a piece of large intestine because it got too rich, while two September 2026 posts said it wasn't greasy.
- A dozen or so posts from July to September 2026 repeat the same keyword string and stock phrases such as calling fried rice 'K-dessert'. They don't disclose sponsorship, so we couldn't separate them from self-paid visits. Three posts disclose sponsorship or a hosted meal; six say they paid themselves.
