Hongdae Jopok Tteokbokki 2-hojeom

홍대조폭떡볶이 2호점 Jopok is Korean slang for a gangster, though one post points out the shop has nothing to do with gangsters; tteokbokki is simmered rice cakes, and this is the second of the two Hongdae shops.

Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →

A tteokbokki, fried-snack and sundae shop in the alley off exit 9 of Hongik University Station (38 Hongik-ro 6-gil). You order at a kiosk by the door, collect your tray when your number shows on the screen, and help yourself to pickled radish, cutlery, aprons and fish-cake broth. Tteokbokki was 4,500 won in posts up to 4 August 2026 and 5,000 won from September; many posts fed two people for around 10,000-15,000 won. We read 15 posts from 29 May to 15 October 2026, 13 of them actual visits; one was about a different shop and one was a course write-up with no meal in it.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Ordering is by kiosk: six posts describe it, with a receipt number that comes up on a screen when the food is ready. One post noted that on a busy night customers wiped their own tables.
  2. It is not hot. Six posts say it is only mildly spicy, two comparing it to something milder than Shin Ramyun, and five call it sweet. One spice-lover wished for a heat option; one post left it at a gentle kick.
  3. Many customers are tourists: four posts saw this for themselves, one estimating half the room on a weekend evening.
  4. Five posts put it a one- to two-minute walk from exit 9 of Hongik University Station.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 12 posts read)

Which floor it is on is unknown beyond the address; no post described it.

No post said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. That means unknown, not absent.

The toilet is outside the shop: one post says to go half a floor up from outside. Nobody mentioned whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 13 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Two posts from early August 2026 found it very hot inside, one saying the air conditioning was too weak and leaving food unfinished; the same post noted the stools have no backrests.
  • Waiting is unsettled: one post found it nearly full on a weekend evening, another said turnover is fast and seats free up quickly. No post gave a waiting time. One mentioned outdoor seats for takeaway customers.
  • Only two posts went alone and one with a daughter; the rest did not say, so we cannot speak to groups or friends.
  • Opening hours appear in eight posts, mostly pasted info: seven give daily 11:30 to 01:30, one says it opens at 11:00 and one says 01:10. Five give last orders at 01:10. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Prices went up in early August 2026: tteokbokki and gimbap were 4,500 won and sundae 5,000 won up to 4 August; from September tteokbokki and gimbap are 5,000 and sundae with offal 6,000. One 15 August post wrote 6,000 for tteokbokki, unlike the others. Two posts called it cheap; one thought it a little pricey until the portions arrived.
  • Four posts list the phone number 02-322-0551 in pasted info; none called ahead or mentioned booking.
  • One date-course post from 5 October 2026 still carries an editor's placeholder instruction and says its prices come from other people's reviews, so we did not count it as a visit.
