Japanese

Yomenya Goemon

요멘야 고에몬 Yōmen-ya is Japanese for a Western-noodle (pasta) shop, and Goemon is a traditional Japanese given name — the sign reads 洋麺屋 五右衛門.

Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Japanese-style pasta shop on the fifth floor of AK Plaza Hongdae, right by Animate, in front of Hongik University Station. Its signature is a cream risotto topped with a soufflé omelette — 12 of the 18 diners who wrote about a visit ordered it. In August 2026 it was 16,000 won on its own, and sets with a drink and dessert ran 18,500 to 22,000 won. You order on a tablet at the table, miso soup and salad come first, and dessert arrives after the meal when you ask. We read 30 posts from October 2024 to October 2026: 8 turned out to be about other shops in the same building and 4 only introduced the place or could not get in.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Nine posts say they waited: over an hour on a weekend lunchtime, about 30 minutes, about 15 minutes. Several put their name on the CatchTable waitlist and browsed the mall until the alert came. One post walked straight in; two others are mixed (no wait at 4:30 on a weekday, or 'lunch can mean 10 to 30 minutes'). Two more writers went but found the waitlist already closed well before closing time.
  2. Six posts say the food is slow to arrive. One timed it at about 20 minutes; a holiday visitor complained that dishes did not come out in the order tables were seated, so a later table was served before her companion.
  3. Four posts say you order on a tablet at the table; one noticed the wall-side tables had no tablet.
  4. Three posts call the fried items crisp — the house cheese menchikatsu (crisp outside, moist inside) and the karaage side. One more mentions the menchikatsu being full of juices.

Things you can check on site

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is supeulle omelet rijotto (수플레 오믈렛 리조또) — 12 of 18 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Where it is

Map showing where Yomenya Goemon is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Every post places it on the mall's fifth floor, but no one described how they got up there (lift or escalator).

Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance or coming in with a wheelchair or stroller — we simply don't know.

No one said where the toilets are; 'separate men's and women's toilets' appears only in one post's copied listing.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts split two to two on richness: two who had the soufflé omelette risotto found it heavy, two who had the mentaiko cream pasta or the roe-mayo dip said it was not.
  • Portions split three to two: three posts found them bigger than expected, two thought them small for the price.
  • Only one post (a public holiday in August 2026) says the floor staff stood around idle and the table menu was sticky and dusty; no other post commented on staff or cleanliness.
  • Prices have gone up: the mentaiko soufflé omelette risotto was 15,000 won in a November 2024 post and 16,000 won in August 2026. A March 2025 list of 13,000–15,000 won spaghetti was copied from the Naver listing, so we do not rely on it.
  • Opening hours: two posts from September–October 2026 agree on 11:00–22:00 with last orders at 21:30. A copied block from April 2026 gives last orders as 20:30, and a November 2024 post says Sundays close at 21:00. One post says it follows the mall's hours.
  • No post describes the walk from Hongik University Station; '12 m from Exit 5' comes from a copied listing.
  • The phone number 02-789-9852 appears only in two copied blocks. No one booked by phone; diners joined the waitlist at the entrance kiosk or on CatchTable.
