Bongnim Daepae is a shaved-pork-belly grill on the ground floor of a side street near Hongik University Station. You pick from the house shavings (6,900 won per 100g), flat-cut, jowl, frozen-sliced belly and beef brisket and grill them yourself; 2,000 won more per person opens the self-serve bar of greens and side dishes in the middle of the room. Meat comes with a pot of bean sprouts you simmer with pork and dumplings, and weekday lunch sets run 10,000–11,000 won. What we do not know
- Waits depend on the hour. Three posts saw a queue: one walked in at 5 pm but saw tables fill from 6, another watched it fill up and a line form on a Sunday at 6. Nobody recorded how many minutes they waited. One post saw waiting chairs outside; one booked ahead.
- Two posts found the staff friendly, one did not: a solo weekday-lunch diner in July 2026 met a single staff member, got no explanation of the self-bar or its 2,000-won fee, and sat waiting for greens that never came.
- One diner saw the lunch set advertised outside at 10,000 won but paid 12,000 won once the self-bar charge was added.
- Prices moved over time: the March 2025 menu listed the house shavings at 5,900 won, thick-cut belly at 8,900 and brisket at 8,900; 2026 posts give 6,900, 10,900 and 9,900. One July 2026 post alone wrote 6,500 won. The lunch ssambap set went down from 11,000 won to 10,000.
- Hours: ten 2026 posts agree on closing at 1 am; eight say it opens at 11 on weekdays and noon on weekends, two say 11 every day. A December 2024 post had 11 am to 2 am daily. Most of this is copied listing data, so check before going.
- Nine posts give the same phone number, 0507-1398-8295, and several relay that Naver booking is available; one post actually booked ahead.
- We set aside six look-alike promotional posts that repeat the same lines in the same order, one that reproduces the shop's own blurb, and two that say outright they are compiled without a visit. None of the posts we counted ordered the sausage, chicken feet or grilling cheese those posts feature.
