Banga Sutbul Dakgalbi
반가 숯불닭갈비 Banga means a yangban (gentry) household, as one blogger was told; sutbul dakgalbi is chicken galbi grilled over charcoal.
Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →
Banga Sutbul Dakgalbi grills chicken galbi over charcoal at 147-1 Eoulmadang-ro, Mapo-gu, near Hongik University Station. Salt, soy and red-pepper cuts plus chicken neck go on a table-side charcoal grill and are eaten wrapped in pickled perilla, radish sheets and a garlic-yuja sauce; 13 posts ordered the Banga combo, which an October 2026 post priced at 31,800 won. On weekday lunchtimes a naengmyeon-and-galbi special costs 12,800 won. We read 30 posts dated 19 March 2025 to 25 October 2026; 28 describe actually eating here. One was a Halloween guide that only pinned the address, and one was a list that copied public listings, so neither was counted.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Space is the most repeated point: 18 posts call the room large, two mention more than 30 tables, and three describe tables for two, four and eight, with group tables at the back. Only one post, from July 2025, said seating was not especially roomy.
- Whether staff grill for you varies: 9 posts say staff cooked and cut everything, 3 say staff only laid the meat on and told them to keep flipping, and 4 say staff helped at first but left it to diners when busy — one was told staff may not manage much at peak times. The charcoal comes as soon as you order, and several posts warn the fire is fierce and the meat needs frequent turning.
- Thirteen posts mention the self-service bar in the middle of the room for more perilla, radish, pickled radish salad and sauces; some items appear only there, water is self-serve, and an August 2026 post notes the salad costs extra.
- Eight posts noticed many foreign diners — one weekday lunch in July 2025 put them at about half the room — and menus and tablets come in English, Chinese and Japanese.
3 more
- Six posts ordered on a table tablet or kiosk.
- The lunch special is the exception to table grilling: a July 2025 diner says the chicken arrived already grilled on a plate. Sets and à la carte cuts are grilled at the table.
- Six posts note that this galbi house sells wine, with a wine fridge and glasses hung from the ceiling; three ordered draft beer.

There appears to be no parking: the one post that drove used a nearby paid lot (5,300 won for three weekday hours). Other parking lines are copied listing info.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 1 of 27 posts |
| Separate restrooms | 2 of 27 posts |
No one mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that is unknown, not absent. Two posts say it is on the ground floor.
Two posts that used the restroom say it is split by gender, one placing it at the back of the dining room; another found it roomy and clean.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Posts disagree on par-grilling: two say the meat comes raw, one says it arrived par-grilled.
- No post reports actually queuing. Two saw others waiting — one took nearly the last table at 7:30 on a weekday evening and saw three groups waiting on the way out — and two walked straight in (8:30 pm on a holiday, a weekday lunch). A Friday 8 pm visitor says there is usually a wait but got in immediately.
- Seven posts went with friends, five with family and two on dates; the two that brought children fed them the salt and soy cuts and cheese fondue. Solo diners were seen, but no post went alone.
- Posted hours shift around late May 2025: six April–May 2025 posts list 11:00–02:00 (last order 01:00), while ten posts from 29 May 2025 on list 11:00–01:00 (last order midnight). All are copied listings; no post mentions a closing day.
- Prices have risen: in April–May 2025 the Banga set was 29,000 won, the Plus set 58,000 and salt-grilled 14,000; by April 2026 salt-grilled was 14,900 and marinated 16,900, the Plus set 61,800 by May 2026, and the Banga set 31,800 by October 2026. The 12,800-won lunch special held steady throughout. No post gives a total bill.
- Eight posts give the same phone number, 0507-1341-3545. Reservations appear only in copied listing info; no post booked ahead.
- Ten posts from April–May 2025 repeat the same keywords, hashtags and storyline about staff grilling for you; only one discloses a hosted visit, so praise from that period deserves caution. Claims of '100% domestic chicken' and TV appearances are repeated from the shop and were not counted.
