Mapo Jinjja Wonjo Choedaepo

마포진짜원조최대포 Jinjja wonjo means 'the real original'; Choedaepo is the house's own name, so the sign reads 'Mapo's real original Choedaepo'.

A pork-rib house at Baekbeom-ro 105 in Mapo, Seoul, a short walk from exit 2 of Daeheung Station. Running since 1956 near the Gongdeok five-way junction, it moved here around August 2026 and now seats guests on three floors. Marinated pork ribs (250 g a portion) and salt-grilled pork neck are 19,000 won each, and you grill them yourself over charcoal at the table. Young-radish bibim noodles are 8,000 won, and a bowl of rice comes with cabbage-leaf soup. We read 30 posts dated 6 August to 14 October 2026; 18 describe an actual visit. The other 12 only introduce the place, so we did not count them.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Side dishes are topped up from a self-serve bar. Six posts mention going back for more, and mushrooms come up again and again — unlimited, one post said, where other places charge extra. Five posts scooped ice cream from the freezer by the door on the way out.
  2. Eight posts said the portions are big. One called the radish noodles enough for two at least; another said two people had three portions of meat plus noodles and rice and were too full for the pork skin.
  3. Ten posts called the ribs sweet; one said they were not very sweet, an old-fashioned taste. Four said they were not salty.
  4. It is close to the subway: four posts put it one to three minutes' walk from exit 2 of Daeheung Station, or right in front of it.
2 more
  1. Four posts from September–October 2026 said the windows were thrown open, like eating outdoors. They were written in cool autumn weather; we do not know about other seasons.
  2. You grill the meat yourself; two posts said so outright. Two posts called the staff friendly, one noting they changed the grill plate without being asked.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Each floor is set up differently. Ten posts mention seating above the ground floor, and fifteen call the place spacious. They describe drum-shaped round tables on the first floor, a large hall of long tables and four-tops on the second, and a smaller third floor decorated with LP records and mother-of-pearl cabinets — about four tables, one post said. Two posts mention private rooms.

You do not go downstairs to eat: one post said the basement is the kitchen and seating starts on the first floor.

Two posts saw that wheelchairs and strollers can get in. One noticed a wheelchair-entrance sign and ramp; the other said the ramp is at a back door on the first floor that opens onto the car park. No one said whether the front door has a step.

One post said the toilet is on the second floor, up a stairway lined with TV-feature clippings. That the toilets are separated by gender appears only in copied listings.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 12 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-135 posts in one day
2026-10-082 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The restaurant moved here in 2026 from near the Gongdeok junction. A post from 6 August said both shops were open at once; every post from September on is about the Daeheung-dong shop. Nine posts mention the move. Everything we counted is about the new shop; one writer's memory of queuing at the old one was left out.
  • Only one post mentions waiting: they arrived around 8 p.m. on a Saturday and were seated at once. No one wrote about lunchtime or other hours — that is unknown, not a no.
  • Company is mixed: two posts with friends, two with a partner, one with family and children, one alone. Many posts suggest it for office dinners, but none describes going as a large group.
  • Sixteen posts give opening hours, all copied from listings: fourteen say 11:00–22:50 daily, two say 11:00–23:00. Two give last orders at 22:00; one says it never closes.
  • Prices mostly come from photos of the menu. Four posts list the salt-grilled pork at 200 g a portion, one at 250 g. One couple itemised their order — three portions of meat, radish noodles and rice — which adds up to 67,000 won. One post called the prices reasonable; another found soju at 6,000 won a bit expensive.
  • Phone numbers vary: 0507-1459-9292 in ten posts, 02-719-9292 in five, and 02-718-9292 and 0507-1333-9293 once each. Several posts link Naver booking, and one saw staff send a 17-person reservation upstairs.
  • Much of this is promotion. Most posts from September–October 2026 run through the same points in the same order — 1956, Seoul Future Heritage, office dinners, 1970s–80s nostalgia — and two pairs share identical hashtag strings. Two posts disclose sponsorship. We left out the 12 introductions that describe no visit.
