Myeongdongjeong
명동정 Myeongdong-jeong (明洞亭) — 'jeong' is a pavilion, so the name reads 'the Myeongdong pavilion'.
Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →
Myeongdongjeong is a Korean set-meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant right by Exit 10 of Myeongdong Station, tucked inside the open-air car park of the Ewha Building next to the Sejong Hotel. Every party is seated in a private room, and there are five set menus, from the weekday-lunch yeongransang at 29,000 won to the surasang at 110,000 won. Of the 28 posts from people who went, 27 had the 65,000-won-per-person gwibinsang: pumpkin porridge, gujeolpan, yukhoe, jeon, fried prawns, dressed steamed prawns, braised short rib with abalone, bulgogi and salmon steak, finished with doenjang stew and rice, then rice cake and tea. We read 30 posts dated 16 March to 7 October 2026. One was really about a nearby café and was set aside; one was a single entry in a neighbourhood list and was not counted as a visit. Nineteen of the 28 visit posts went up in the eleven days from 27 September to 7 October.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- There is no open dining room; everyone eats in a room. Twenty-seven posts say they ate in a private room. One couple was shown to a four-person room, and when another diner remarked the room was big for two, staff explained that every seat in the house is a private room. Posts describe rooms from two-person up to sixteen, plus a banquet hall for dozens.
- Fourteen posts say they booked ahead, mostly through Naver booking; one notes the restaurant called on the day to confirm. Rooms are assigned by party size, so posts suggest giving your headcount when you book.
- Five posts say the food arrives quickly and largely all at once — 'out in no time', 'no waiting between dishes'. Rather than one course at a time, the table is filled in three or four waves.
- Nine posts say the portions are large. One diner eating with her grandmother regretted not being able to finish; another, with her husband, said they couldn't clear the table.
4 more
- Ten posts say the seasoning is mild — the short rib 'not salty', the doenjang stew 'not the overly salty kind'. No post called anything salty.
- Fifteen posts say the fried prawns are crisp; several advise eating them as soon as they arrive, fresh from the fryer.
- Five posts say they actually saw foreign diners — a foreign couple at the next table, tourists trying on hanbok for photos, a guided tour group. The free hanbok photo corner near the entrance appears in almost every post, but we have no field for it and did not count it.
- Twenty-six posts say it is close to Exit 10 of Myeongdong Station — most say a one-minute walk, others three or five. Being opposite Namsan Yejang Park makes it easy to find.

Parking
27 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Parking is what these posts talk about first: 27 of the 28 visit posts say the free car park is large. The restaurant sits at the back of the Ewha Building's open-air lot, so you park and walk straight in, and posts repeatedly mention that coaches can park too. The posts that give a time limit agree on 90 minutes free.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 28 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 2 of 28 posts |
One post describes the floor from experience: the restaurant is at ground level inside the car park. No post mentions stairs or a lift.
No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — not that it can't, just that nobody wrote it down. Some rooms are said to be floor-seated ondol rooms, so ask for a table room when booking if that matters.
Two posts mention the toilet from experience, both saying it is inside the restaurant (one adds it was clean). Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied info blocks, so we did not count that.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions on the yukhoe differ: one post found it sweet and not spicy, two found the gochujang dressing a little hot.
- No post mentions queuing. Most posters had booked, so we don't know what the wait is like if you walk in.
- Opening hours appear in 24 posts, all copied into info blocks. Twenty-three give 11:30–21:30 and one gives an 11:00 opening. The break is listed as 15:00–17:00 and last orders as 20:00. No regular closing day is given; one post notes a closure on Chuseok day itself.
- Prices are consistent across posts: yeongransang (weekday lunch) 29,000 won, myeongdong jeongsik 43,000, gwibinsang 65,000, haesinsang 85,000, surasang 110,000 — the gwibinsang price is the same in March and October. Some posts mention a 5% coupon for booking through Naver. Nobody gave drink prices or the corkage fee.
- Many posts give the same phone number, 02-3789-5130; bookings are made by phone or through Naver.
- These posts read heavily like commissioned promotion. Only three disclose sponsorship, but several carry almost the same string of hashtags, and one still contains the brief's instruction to 'describe in detail what the business tells you'. Where nearly every post says the same thing in the same order — parking, private rooms — weigh it accordingly.
