A kalguksu-and-dumpling house in the building right outside Myeongdong Station exit 8, at 129 Toegye-ro. Kalguksu and bibim noodles are 12,000 won and dumplings 13,000 won; you give your party size at the door, order and pay first, then sit where you are sent. Seven posts note that this building became the main branch in 2026 and the old alley shop was renamed Myeongdong Gyoja No. 1. We read 30 posts dated September 23 to October 8, 2026; one was about another restaurant, and 20 of the remaining 29 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The line is long but moves fast. Thirteen posts waited and three walked straight in. The waits people recorded were 3 minutes, 5, under 10 (twice), 10 (twice), 15 and 30; the 30 was someone who joined the line at 10:10, twenty minutes before opening, during the Chuseok holiday. A Monday-noon visit had no wait, as did a weekday 11 a.m. visit. Lines are split by party size: five posts say parties of one or two queue on the window side, and one warns that standing in the wrong line sends you to the back.
- The garlic kimchi on every table gets nearly as much attention as the noodles. Six posts found it hot, and two rinsed it in water; one noticed a table sign asking diners not to over-rinse it.
- Family outings are the largest group, seven posts. Three brought children; a parent with a 13-month-old folded the stroller by the entrance and was brought a high chair. Another was told a 7-year-old also had to order a full bowl. One post each went alone, with a friend, or as a couple.
- Seven posts mention many foreign diners; one put it at roughly half and half, another said Koreans still outnumbered them.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 5 of 19 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 19 posts read) |
Seating is upstairs. Five posts were sent to the second floor, and four of them say pairs go to the second floor and groups of three or more to the third. One post waited on the stairs inside. Nobody mentions an elevator. One post places the entrance at street level, right in front of exit 8.
No one says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair can get in. One post folded a stroller by the entrance; with seating on the second and third floors, we don't know whether you must climb stairs.
None of the visits say where the toilets are or whether they are separated by sex; one post only says they were large and pleasant in the new building.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 9 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The main branch changed in 2026: it is now the new building at 129 Toegye-ro, and seven posts say the 1969 alley shop was renamed Myeongdong Gyoja No. 1. Two posts still place the main branch in the alley, which we read as outdated. Whether the taste changed is disputed: one post felt the broth had lost depth and another mentions people saying so, while three found it unchanged.
- Prices agree across every post: 12,000 won for kalguksu or bibim noodles, 13,000 for dumplings; one pair paid 37,000 for all three. What changed are the extras: two posts say kimchi with take-away dumplings now costs 2,000 won a pack, and two say free noodle and rice refills are down to one per bowl, though one post still got two noodle refills.
- Eight posts give the same opening hours, 10:30 to 21:00, and four add a 20:30 last order, mostly copied from the listing. One visitor found it closed only on Chuseok day itself; a post citing the official site says it closes on Lunar New Year's Day and Chuseok.
- Two posts list the phone as 0507-1366-5348 and one, citing the official site, 02-776-5348. On reservations, one post says it is walk-in only and another relays that weekday bookings for 30 or more after 2:30 p.m. are possible; we can't confirm either.
