Fried chickenKorean

Kkanbu Chikin Myeongdong-jeom

깐부치킨 명동점 Kkanbu is Korean slang for a close buddy you share everything with; posts here quote the line 'we're kkanbu' from the chicken-and-beer meeting that made the chain famous.

A branch of the Kkanbu Chicken chain on the second floor of the Myeongdong IB Tower, 22 Myeongdong 8ga-gil. A Mega Coffee occupies the ground floor and you ride an escalator up. It is a fried-chicken-and-beer place; the one post that gave prices paid 27,000 won for a half-and-half bird. We read 28 posts dated March 2025 to October 2026. Six describe a visit, between November 2025 and March 2026. We set aside 20 as other branches or other shops, and two only list the name among new openings.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Five of the six visit posts mention drinking beer: draught, bottled, and a soju-beer tower. One says ordering beer brought a free bowl of chicken-flavoured crackers.
  2. Two posts note many foreign customers; one saw them at the two-person tables, each with a whole chicken. The same post says every table has an ordering kiosk in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese.
  3. Two posts waited: about ten minutes in March 2026, and 'a short wait' on a Sunday evening in November 2025. Another post says the chicken came out slowly, so the writer got through half a draught beer on an empty stomach.
  4. Two posts call it crisp. One says it arrived too hot to hold for long; the other found it not greasy.

Getting inside

Second floor2 of 6 posts

Two posts say you take an escalator up to the second floor. One sat by an open window looking down on the Myeongdong street. That post also mentions an 'open terrace', but we can't tell from it whether this is outdoor seating or just the window seats.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or wheelchair or stroller access. The only way up anyone mentions is an escalator; we don't know whether there is a lift. That means nobody said, not that there isn't one.

One post says the restroom was nice, but nobody says whether it is inside the restaurant or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 8 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three of the six visit posts (25 to 31 March 2026) share the same title opening, hashtag set and closing link. None discloses sponsorship, but read them as a group. The Jensen Huang meeting the posts mention happened at a different branch, so we don't count it.
  • Posts went with friends (two) or a spouse (one). None went with children or family, so we can't say how it suits kids.
  • Only one post gives prices (March 2026: 27,000 won for a half-and-half, 9,000 won for three hot dogs). A November 2025 post found Myeongdong too expensive. We can't work out a typical spend per person.
  • Three posts list opening hours as 12:00 to midnight daily, and one adds a last order at 23:00. All three copied this from the listing; nobody wrote about visiting at those hours.
  • Only one post gives a phone number (0507-1343-8333). Nobody says whether the place takes reservations.
