모던샤브하우스 광화문D타워점 Modeon Syabeu Hauseu Gwanghwamun D-Tawo-jeom A plain descriptive name — a 'modern shabu-shabu house'; this is the Gwanghwamun D Tower branch of a hot-pot chain run by Sun at Food, the company behind Mad for Garlic.

Modern Shabu House on the 5th floor of D Tower in Gwanghwamun is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant. You pick a course by meat grade (Signature 58,000 won per adult, Special 78,000, Excellent 98,000), order meat on the table tablet, and help yourself to vegetables and soft drinks from a central bar. Each table picks one of nine broths, and each broth comes with a fixed closing dish — truffle risotto for mushroom, stir-fried udon for sukiyaki, shrimp-dumpling noodles for shrimp — cooked at the table by staff, then ice cream. Switching broth costs 10,000 won per table. We read 30 posts dated Aug 14 to Oct 19, 2026; 23 describe an actual meal. Two were about other places and five were listicles or passing mentions, so we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Fourteen posts say everything — more meat, a broth switch, calling staff, even dessert — goes through the table tablet. One liked not having to ask anyone for refills; another found staff slow to answer tablet calls.
- Eight posts mention window seats looking over downtown Gwanghwamun. One, despite booking on Naver, found them all taken and noted Naver booking has no option to request a window; another mentions several single seats by the window.
- Eleven posts mention private rooms. A family of eight who used one paid a separate 50,000-won room fee and were allowed to bring their own cake. The number of rooms is either eight (copied listing info) or about three (one post). One writer thought a room would be awkward given the trips to the self-serve bar.
- Five posts waited or saw a queue; two did not. A walk-in party waited about two hours, one post says there were three groups ahead even at weekend opening, another saw a wait at noon on a Sunday. One early weekday evening and one weekend visit found it quiet. Eleven posts booked ahead, via Naver or CatchTable; one notes you can join the waitlist at the door with your phone number.
2 more
- Ten posts call it expensive, two say it is worth the money, and one is on the fence. One writer, unhappy with that day's ingredients, wrote that 58,000 won is a lot for shabu-shabu. Reported bills: 406,000 won for a family of eight, 290,000 for five.
- Four posts say there is no time limit and none say otherwise. One advises ordering several plates ahead because the meat seems to be cut to order and arrives slowly.

Parking
2 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Only two posts actually parked, and they disagree: two hours free in the building versus three. The copied info blocks also split between two and three hours, so we do not know the current allowance. Two posts suggest transit because of frequent protests and heavy traffic around Gwanghwamun.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
6 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
Every post gives the 5th floor of D Tower, but that is the address; nobody describes how they got up there. Once on the floor, posts say it is at the far end of the corridor, straight ahead to the left, and one found the small sign hard to spot.
No post mentions an entrance step, wheelchair or stroller access, or the lift. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is a problem. Three posts came with children, and one says a high chair was set out in advance.
Only one post mentions the toilets, saying they are very close to the restaurant — which leaves open whether they are inside or in the corridor. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied info blocks.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Staff friendliness splits two for, two against, with one calling it so-so for the price. The negatives: staff on their phones not coming when called, and mostly sour faces. Two posts say the closing dishes vary with whoever cooks them.
- Corkage appears only in copied blocks, one saying allowed and one saying charged; nobody tried it, so we do not know. One post says they were allowed to bring an outside cake.
- Sixteen visit posts list opening hours; fifteen say 11:30 to 22:00 daily with last order at 21:00, one says it opens at 11:00. All of these are copied info blocks, not times anyone checked. Most give the phone as 02-2251-8501, and bookings were made via Naver and CatchTable.
- Prices may have risen: every Aug–Oct 2026 post gives 58,000 won for the Signature, but one blogger's earlier post title said 53,000, with no date for the change. One post gives the Excellent tier as 108,000 won against five that say 98,000.
- The dessert ice cream was strawberry in most posts from August to mid-October; two posts on Oct 17 and 19 got yuzu, one noting it had been strawberry before.
- Four posts carry the same '214 seats, 8 private rooms' line and the same news of the Gongdeok branch opening on Aug 5, in the same order — likely commissioned copy from one template. None discloses sponsorship, so we counted their meals, but we did not rely on the seat and room figures they repeat.
