Jaesudon Gamjatang Cheongdam

재수돈감자탕 청담점 Gamjatang is a pork-backbone stew; jaesu is the everyday Korean word for luck, and the posts never explain the rest of the name.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jaesudon Gamjatang Cheongdam is a pork-backbone stew house in a two-storey building on Dosan-daero 57-gil, a 5-10 minute walk from Exit 4 of Apgujeong Rodeo station. Beyond the stew it serves soy-braised backbones (ppyeojjim), flame-grilled backbones in red sauce (ppyeogui), and single bowls of bone soup (9,000 won) and gukbap (11,000 won). October posts put the stew at 36,000 / 42,000 / 49,000 won for small, medium and large, and the braised or grilled bones at 38,000 won for a small. It is a place for sharing a pot between two or three; the fried rice (3,000 won) comes already fried on a plate instead of being made in your pot. We read 30 posts dated 21 August to 14 October 2026: one was about a wedding-dress shop and was discarded, one was the restaurant's own promotion and was not counted, leaving 28 first-hand visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Portions are large: 20 of the 28 visits said so. One post put it flatly as 'small = three servings'; another said a small stew was more than two women could finish, and a third said a medium with extra greens nearly defeated three people. A group of four ate a large braise (51,000 won) and had no room left for fried rice.
  2. Twelve posts said a bowl of bone-soup broth comes free with the braised or grilled bones; one diner didn't know and ordered an extra bowl of haejangguk. Accounts differ on what is in it - some found only greens, one found plenty of meat.
  3. The heat is in the grilled bones: all 5 posts that ate ppyeogui called it hot, one comparing it to Buldak fire noodles. The soy braise is the sweet one - 6 posts said so - and one post each said the braise and the stew were not spicy.
  4. Six posts said you order on a kiosk or tablet at each table; three said extra side dishes come from a self-service corner.
2 more
  1. Six posts noticed many foreign diners; one was seated between two tables speaking Chinese.
  2. No post called it expensive; six said it was no pricier than a neighbourhood stew house or cheaper. Several pointed to a 9,000-won bowl of bone soup in Cheongdam.

Posts saying you can park3 of 28 posts

Parking is at the Wolfgang's Steakhouse lot across the corner. Most posts just copy the listed terms (5,000 won for the first 120 minutes, 1,000 won per extra 10 minutes, 20,000 won cap, valet 5,000 won); 3 posts said they actually parked there.

Getting inside

Second floor18 of 28 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 6 (of 28 posts read)
Toilet inside4 of 28 posts
Separate restrooms4 of 28 posts

The ground floor has partitioned four-seat tables and a separate row of single seats; upstairs is private rooms. 18 posts mentioned the second floor, 11 the private rooms and 2 a terrace. One Tuesday-evening visitor thought the upper floor only opens on Fridays and weekends.

No one wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair - that means unrecorded, not absent. Six posts said you enter at ground level; three said the upper floor, with the women's toilet and private rooms, is reached by stairs. Nobody mentioned a lift.

Four posts said the toilets are inside, with the men's on the ground floor and the women's upstairs; three of them added that they were clean.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting is not settled. Two posts walked straight in, one on a Saturday at 5 pm. Another saw a sign asking guests to wait briefly plus a CatchTable notice, and one found the room full at 5 pm on a weekend, but nobody recorded how long they waited. Two posts noted chairs outside for a queue.
  • Many posts mention a separate solo-dining section, but none was written by someone eating alone. Companions recorded: friends 5, partner 3, family 2, groups of four or more 2.
  • On opening hours, 22 posts give 11:00 to 02:00 daily with last orders at 01:30; one gives 11:30 as the opening time. Nearly all copy the listing, and nobody reports a late-night visit. Two posts say there is no break time and no closing day.
  • Prices have gone up. A 21 August post paid 39,000 won for a medium stew and a 2 September post 34,000 won for a small; orders from 5 October show 42,000 won for a medium, and menus copied on 12-13 October show 36,000 won for a small. Three posts from 6-9 October still list the small at 34,000 won - we cannot tell whether they copied an older listing.
  • The phone number, 0507-1326-3584, is the same across posts. Some posts relay that bookings go through Naver and CatchTable and that groups of eight or more should call ahead, but no one wrote about booking a table themselves.
  • 27 of the 30 posts appeared within ten days, 5-14 October. Three disclose sponsorship, and many end with the same five hashtags. Each still records what was eaten, so we counted them. The 'Sung Si-kyung's favourite' label refers to the Wangsimni branch, as some posts note, so we treat it as hearsay.
