Dongmyo Geuneuljip

동묘그늘집 Geuneuljip, literally 'shade house', is the Korean name for the rest hut on a golf course; Dongmyo is the neighbourhood around the old Dongmyo shrine.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A yard-style outdoor barbecue tucked into the Dongmyo flea-market alleys: round tables set out in a courtyard that doubles as a car park, where you grill fresh pork belly (18,000 won per 180 g) or top-grade Korean beef (brisket 33,000 won, mixed cuts 39,000 won). Soybean stew and the house ramyeon are 5,000 won, cold noodles 9,000 won. Strings of bulbs come on at dusk and a tent goes up when it turns cold; three posts from high summer ate indoors to escape the heat. We read 29 posts dated 13 April to 26 October 2026, 27 of them from people who actually went.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The seating is the car park. Nine posts ate outside. As cars leave, more tables go down in their place: one post calls it a system where tables multiply as cars pull out, another waited 15 minutes until a car left and three or four grill tables were set up on the spot. The flip side, noted twice, is cars pulling out mid-meal while diners shift their chairs; one writer said the cars were all gone by about 6 pm.
  2. Fourteen posts mention waiting; nine actually waited — 15, 15–20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes. The 50-minute wait was a spring weekday at 7 pm with over ten groups ahead; the same writer walked straight in at 7 pm on an autumn weekday. Four posts were seated at once (weekday 6 or 7 pm, 2 pm lunch, a cold evening). You write only your name and party size, no phone number, and they call names; one post warns that if you are not there you lose your turn. Three posts mention chairs for waiting, two of them air-conditioned.
  3. You can book by phone. Three posts did or saw it: a friend reserved by calling, the group ahead of one writer skipped the queue on a phone booking, and a works dinner was booked well ahead. Two posts note there is no app-based remote queue.
  4. Three posts found the portions large: one counts two and a half to three strips of belly per serving, another could not believe what arrived was only two servings, and a third got what looked like a double portion of cold noodles.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 26 posts
Separate restroomsyes 2 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

No post mentions floors. We do not know whether the indoor room is level with the yard. The 'ground floor' in the address is copied text, not anyone's observation.

No one said anything about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair; that is silence, not a no. One post notes the approach is through market alleys where stalls spill goods onto the path in the daytime.

There appear to be two toilets. One post says there is one inside and one outside, the outside one split by gender; another found the indoor one, reached through the kitchen, to be unisex. A third describes a gender-separated toilet at the far end of the yard. Three posts called the toilets clean.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on the food differ. Most posts liked it, but one said the atmosphere was good and the meat really was not, one rated it so-so, and one called it merely decent. Several say you come for the setting.
  • One post said hardly any of the tableware was undamaged and that its stew went to the wrong table, while also calling the staff very friendly. No other post mentions this.
  • Two posts describe walking from the station: 200 m through the flea-market alley from exit 5 of Dongmyo-ap station, or under ten minutes from Dongmyo. Several warn the alleys are confusing and the sign easy to miss. No one came by bus.
  • Twelve posts copy the opening hours, nearly identically: daily 11:00–23:00, a 15:00–17:00 break on weekdays only, last order 22:00, no regular closing day. One June 2026 post gives last order as 22:30. All are copied listings rather than checked times; two posts describe it opening at 5 pm.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 02-2233-2004 (three posts) and 0507-1349-8126 (two posts). No one said which number they used to book.
  • The claim that BTS member V has eaten here comes from one post in which the owner showed them his Instagram; we treat it as hearsay. The same writer did see plenty of foreign customers that evening.
