La Farina

라파리나 Raparina La farina is Italian for 'flour'; several posts say the name is meant to stress good flour.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

La Farina is a bagel shop in a red-brick building with a giant bagel on its facade, up Jahamun-ro from Gyeongbokgung Station exit 3, across from Tongin Market. You pick bagels from the ground-floor counter with tongs and a tray, pay, and eat with coffee on the first or second floor or outside, or take them away. The bagels are baked in a wood-fired oven: salt bagel 3,800 won, plain oven bagel 3,500 won, chive-and-scallion cream cheese 6,800 won, and cream-and-fruit 'sand bagels' from 8,300 to 10,500 won; in summer there is bingsu from 16,000 (red bean) to 32,000 won (fresh mango). Twelve posts mention a toaster or mini oven for warming bagels yourself. We read 30 posts dated September 4, 2025 to October 5, 2026; 25 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Three posts found it quiet and two did not. All three quiet ones were talking about the second floor (one found it empty at lunchtime); the two others mention a steady stream of customers, one describing the ground floor as packed with people ordering, collecting, and delivery riders, and advising diners to go upstairs.
  2. Ten posts mention window seats: the ground-floor windows and the second floor's large glass front look out toward Inwangsan, and several posts say they sat by the window.
  3. Six posts mention outdoor seating. One autumn visitor enjoyed sitting outside in the breeze; two midsummer posts skipped it because of the heat.
  4. Fourteen posts call it spacious and one says it is not a huge café; another found the ground floor a bit cramped and the second floor much roomier. The '50 seats' figure several posts repeat comes from the shop's own description.

  1. Ten posts describe walking from Gyeongbokgung Station: straight up Jahamun-ro from exit 3, in 2-3 to 6 minutes. Several note it sits on the main road and is easy to find.
  2. Ten posts took bagels home. Several froze them and ate them over the next days; the bag comes printed with storage (up to two weeks frozen) and reheating tips. One post says staff advised against carrying a cream-filled sand bagel on a long trip because it would melt.
  3. Fourteen posts ordered coffee. The signature La Farina latte (5,500 won) is described as nutty from aged milk; the Ododok latte (5,800 won) has raw sugar at the bottom that crunches. Two posts switched their americano to decaf.
  4. On sweetness, five posts say things were less sweet than expected (sand-bagel cream, Valrhona chocolate, mocha bagel, Ododok latte) and one found it too sweet: the sorbet on the Korean-melon bingsu masked the melon.
  5. Five posts found portions large: one says a single sand bagel is closer to a meal than a snack, another was full after half a jambon bagel.
  6. Two posts say you get a free salt bagel for leaving a Naver receipt review.
  7. Five posts are repeat visits; one bought three bagels, then came back the same day before heading home to Ulsan and bought four more.

Getting inside

Seating is on two floors. The ground floor holds the display, the oven and the counter; twenty-two posts say there are seats upstairs too. The second floor is done in deep green with wooden furniture, and posts mention wide tables and power outlets. One post says staff asked them to find a seat first, so they claimed a table upstairs before coming down to order.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That does not mean there is a problem, only that nobody wrote about it. One post mentions stairs to the second floor; none mentions an elevator.

Six posts say the restroom is inside, on the second floor; they describe it as clean, and one notes spare tissue was stocked.

Only one post says clearly whether the restroom is split by gender: it is unisex. Two others say 'shared' without making clear whether they mean unisex or shared with the building, so we did not count them.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queuing. One weekday 2 p.m. visitor walked straight in. Instead, several posts ran into sold-out items (fig sand bagel, pollock-roe potato bagel, scallion cream cheese bagel); one was told a fresh batch would come out in 20-30 minutes. We don't know about weekend waits.
  • Opening hours vary a little between posts. Thirteen give 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily (most add that the second floor closes at 8 p.m.), two give 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and two say it opens at 9 a.m.; one September 2025 post has 10 a.m. on weekdays and 9:30 on weekends. Nearly all of this is copied from listings, and no post mentions a closing day, so check before you go.
  • Prices mostly match across posts, with a few splits: fig bagel 4,500 won (June and September 2026) vs 4,300 (one October post), pretzel bagel 3,500 vs 3,200, chocolate sand bagel 8,500 vs 8,800. There are too few posts to say whether prices went up or down. One post found the 32,000-won mango bingsu too expensive; two found prices reasonable.
  • Many posts give the phone number 02-723-2004, but none says whether you can book by phone. One lists 'reservations: no' without saying how it knows.
  • Two clusters of posts share the same promotional copy: several from late September to early October 2026 repeat a line about a chef with 20 years of cooking and 10 years in Europe, and several from May 2026 repeat '10 years at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Italy' and 'baked and discarded the same day'. One post discloses sponsorship, one says the writer paid, and the rest say nothing. The chef's résumé, the certified pizza oven and the TV appearance are the shop's own claims, so we did not count them.
