Yabai
야바이 Yabai (やばい) is Japanese slang used as an exclamation like 'crazy' or 'insane' in the sense of amazing, as one post explains.

A teppanyaki spot for okonomiyaki and monjayaki down a side street off Yonsei-ro, a short walk from Exit 1 of Sinchon Station, in a basement below street level. Every table has its own large griddle and staff cook at it in front of you. Posts list pork okonomiyaki at 12,000 won, the mixed one at 14,000, the house Yabai okonomiyaki (pork belly, seafood, cheese) at 16,000, monjayaki at 13,000–16,000, cola at 2,000 and Kirin Ichiban draft at 8,000. Pairs ordering two or three dishes report paying 40,000 and 47,000 won; the Kirin monja set was 43,000. We read 30 posts from 5 October 2025 to 14 October 2026, 26 of them from actual visits.

Rows without a count: 17 of 19 posts.
Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- All 26 visit posts say staff cooked at the table griddle. What gets cooked there depends on the order: monjayaki is always made at the table, and posts that ordered monjayaki together with okonomiyaki say the okonomiyaki came finished from the kitchen and was set on the griddle to stay hot. Posts that paired okonomiyaki with yakisoba had the okonomiyaki cooked at the table and the noodles sent from the kitchen. One poster was asked to pick which dish to have cooked tableside. Several say staff explain how to eat monjayaki and scrape the first bite for you.
- Seven posts walked from Exit 1 of Sinchon Station, putting it at roughly 5 to 10 minutes; another walked from the Hongik University Station side. Posts place it just left of a Mexican restaurant called Tacoloco, behind Changseo Elementary School, and one got a little lost because the sign is in Japanese.
- One post waited: on a Sunday evening in April 2026 there were seven groups ahead and it took about an hour. Two did not wait, arriving at 5:30 pm on a weekday and right at opening. Three booked ahead on Naver, one being seated straight away. The 100-minute limit when there is a queue and the no-same-day-booking rule come from the house notice, copied into posts.

Twenty posts say you go down to a basement: stairs inside a red street door, then another flight inside. Posts describe the stairs as a bit steep, very steep, narrow, and in places low-ceilinged. Twelve say the basement space is split into an upper and lower level; one was sent upstairs because the lower floor was full.
No post describes getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Two mention a step at the entrance, and none mention a lift. One generic write-up claims wheelchair access, but it shows no sign of a visit and we did not count it. Every description of the way in is by stairs.
Four posts say the toilets are inside the restaurant. One adds they are separate by gender, the women's on the lower level and the men's upstairs. Nobody says whether they are cramped or accessible.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Cleanliness is split. One post found the floor sticky and hygiene not great; another said the upstairs waiting area floor was very sticky while the lower floor and griddles looked clean. A 'monthly cleaning day' claim is the house's own line.
- Ceiling height splits two to one: two posts call it very high, one warns that anyone over 180 cm should mind their head. On table sizes, one post says there are only four-person tables, another says it saw two-person ones too.
- Seasoning splits: two posts found it salty or strong, three said it was not salty, one of them calling the monjayaki bland and watery. Three posts called some of the food ordinary.
- Four posts found the portions large; one thought the okonomiyaki was on the small side.
- Nineteen posts give opening hours, all copied from info blocks. Most agree on 4 pm to midnight Sunday to Thursday (last order 11 pm) and 4 pm to 1 am on Friday and Saturday (last order midnight); one says midnight every day, another 1 am on weekdays too. No post mentions a closing day. Nothing opens before 4 pm.
- Most posts give the phone number as 0507-1408-1024; one listing gives 02-325-3867, and we could not tell which is current. Bookings are taken through Naver.
- Twelve posts from 14 July to 12 October 2026 repeat the same lines in the same order: 'over ten years in Sinchon', six TV appearances on the same named shows, 'great for dates and blind dates'. None discloses sponsorship, but they read like commissioned copy. Four posts say they paid their own way. The TV and longevity claims are copied and we do not rely on them. Prices in November 2025 and October 2026 posts match, with no sign of an increase.
