HIBO

하이보 Haibo Haibo is the Korean reading of 海寶, 'treasure of the sea' — the sign and menu present it as a seafood-leaning Chinese restaurant.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

Haibo is a second-floor Chinese restaurant at 134 Gwanak-ro, a walk uphill from exit 2 of Seoul Nat'l Univ. station toward the Gwanak-gu Office. Noodle and rice dishes run 8,000–12,000 won, dim sum 6,900 won for four, small plates of sweet-and-sour pork or prawns 25,000–34,000 won, and set courses start at 28,000 won per person. With many private rooms, most posts are about family gatherings and work dinners. We read 30 posts from January 2025 to October 2026; 24 describe an actual meal. Several note it is one branch of a chain in Seoul and Gyeonggi.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Private rooms come up more than anything else: 16 of the 24 meal posts mention them. Three describe rooms with push-button automatic doors; one group of about ten and one family of fifteen each had a room. One post from graduation day in September 2025 says the rooms were gone even with a booking two weeks ahead, so they sat in the main hall.
  2. Seven posts arrived by car. Four say staff at the building took the car and parked it, and two say the valet was free. One parked in the underground lot themselves; another used the Gwanak-gu Office lot across the road.
  3. Ordering is by machine: five posts used a table tablet (three) or a kiosk (two), and three say the food came quickly.
  4. Family meals lead with 11 posts, then four group outings (work dinners, a lab lunch, a wedding-invitation get-together) and two with friends; one post was a first meeting with a partner's parents. Seven posts call it quiet.

Getting inside

Second floor9 of 23 posts
Lift to the floor6 of 23 posts

The restaurant is upstairs: nine posts say second floor and six mention the elevator — two rode it, two took the stairs past it, two describe the menu or coffee machine by it. Three posts mention a coffee machine near the elevator or entrance for a cup after the meal.

We don't know about steps or wheelchair entry. Six posts mention an elevator, but none says whether the entrance has a step or describes coming in by wheelchair. One group chose it while looking for somewhere a stroller could get in, but didn't say how that went.

No post says where the restroom is or whether it is separated by gender. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there isn't one.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices appear to have risen: jjajangmyeon went from 7,000 won (February 2025) to 8,000 won (October 2026), seafood jjamppong from 9,000 (December 2025) to 10,000 won. A noodle-only meal is about 10,000 won a head; two posts with several dishes paid 145,000 won for four adults and 144,800 won for a family of four. Four posts found it reasonable for the setting; one found it on the pricey side.
  • Opening hours are only copied info blocks, and they disagree on days off. Seven posts list 11:00–21:30 and four a 15:00–17:00 break. Four posts from May 2025 to July 2026 say closed Sundays, but an October 2026 post lists Saturday and Sunday 11:00–21:30 (last order 21:15), and a December 2025 post says weekends run without a break. Call 02-882-8813 before a Sunday visit; two posts booked rooms by phone, and one says Naver booking was not available.
  • No post describes waiting in line. One booked ahead because it had heard weekday dinner waits are long, and the graduation-day lunch that was packed had a reservation. Five posts booked. That isn't proof there is never a wait — just that nobody wrote about one.
  • Three posts came by public transport. One warns it's a fair walk from exit 2 of Seoul Nat'l Univ. station; another says the bus stop is right outside. Figures like '400 m' or 'five minutes on foot' are copied info.
  • Service views split three to one: three posts praised it (dishes split onto two plates for a big table, attentive without hovering), while one found the staff not very friendly and wouldn't return.
  • A September 2026 post heard the whole-octopus seafood dishes would be dropped after Chuseok; no later post confirms it. Separately, three posts say the dim sum listed as three pieces came as four.
