Eongubi Yukhoe

언구비육회 Eongubi is the old name of this neighbourhood — a village named for nine stone tablets honouring nine scholars who drove off bandits in the late Joseon era; yukhoe is Korean raw beef tartare.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

Eongubi Yukhoe is a raw-beef bar in a Banpo-dong alley off Gangnam-daero 83-gil, a short walk from Sinnonhyeon Station. Fifteen posts ordered the signature beef tartare topped with live octopus chopped to order; six posts from September 2026 on give 39,900 won, five earlier ones 39,000 won. It comes with beef radish soup kept hot on a burner, and fourteen posts added the cat-shaped sesame-oil rice (3,500 won). Recent posts say it opens at 11:30 and serves lunch; posts from November 2024 to February 2025 say it opened only from 6:30 pm. We read 20 posts from 21 November 2024 to 14 October 2026, all of them actual visits. Eleven posts from May 2026 on read as one promotional batch with the same order and wording; three of them disclose sponsorship.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. There is outdoor seating by the entrance — eight posts mention a terrace or street-side table. A June 2026 post says it seats four and gets air-conditioning; a November 2024 post went inside instead because of rain.
  2. Nine posts call it quiet, and the reason they give is the wooden partitions between tables — one says they could barely hear the people right next to them. A January 2025 post notes these are partitions, not private rooms.
  3. Writing a review gets you something extra. Six posts received it: two crab-stick fritters (four posts), shrimp rings (one) or a zero-sugar cider (one), consistently from November 2024 to October 2026.
  4. The radish soup that comes with the sets has green chilli in it — five posts describe it as having a kick. No post called the tartare itself spicy.
2 more
  1. You order from a tablet or kiosk at the table; six posts say so.
  2. Six posts say the owner is kind — one was handed an apron for white trousers, one got back forgotten glasses, one saw the owner share a neighbour's opening-day rice cakes with customers.

1 posts say you can park; 2 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Parking accounts differ: two posts say there is none to speak of, while one post that came by car says the building's basement lot is very tight and suggests a nearby public lot.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 19 posts read)
Separate restrooms1 of 19 posts

No post says from experience what floor the restaurant is on; the '1st floor' in the address is copied. One post only says the toilet is out of the shop on the building's ground floor.

We don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — nobody wrote about it, which is not the same as there being none.

Only one post mentions the toilet: outside the shop behind a yellow door on the building's ground floor, with a key to take from the entrance, and the women's room inside the men's. No other post confirms it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Three posts say it is an easy walk from Sinnonhyeon Station or the bus stop; the exit numbers and distances other posts give are copied from the map.
  • No post says they had to wait. One claims there is a queue at weekday peak times but did not wait themselves. Several copy that Naver booking is available, and one February 2025 post actually booked.
  • Five posts say who they went with: four with friends, one with a spouse. None went alone or with children, and none says anything about bringing kids.
  • Opening hours have changed over time, and every set we have is copied. Posts from November 2024 to February 2025 give 6:30 pm to midnight or 12:30 am, with the closing day split between Sunday and Monday. Two May 2026 posts say Saturdays 12:00–22:30; four posts from July 2026 on say closed both weekend days, though one 1 October 2026 post says Monday to Saturday. A 21 May 2026 post repeats the old 'daily 18:30–00:30', apparently stale. Check before you go.
  • Prices have gone up: the octopus tartare was 39,000 won through July 2026 and 39,900 won from September; the plain tartare went from 27,000 to 27,900. A May 2026 post put a meal for two — octopus tartare, sesame rice and an extra soup — at 47,000 won. Two posts thought it good value.
  • Nine posts give the same phone number, 0507-1339-3033. Bookings go through Naver; one post copies that four-seat tables can be booked for 6–7:30 pm, up to three parties.
  • Eleven posts from 20 May to 14 October 2026 share the same order and the same lines about four-hour soup and mill-pressed sesame oil; three disclose sponsorship. Phrases like 'chilled Korean cow beef' and '24-hour ageing' are the shop's own claims, repeated, and we don't rely on them. Three posts, all from 2025, say they paid their own way.
