Grill houseKorean

Myeongnang Chuksan

명랑축산 Myeongnang means cheerful and chuksan means livestock farming; the house says its 1++ Hanwoo comes from its own farm in Yeongju, North Gyeongsang.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

Myeongnang Chuksan is a charcoal-grill house for 1++ Hanwoo beef in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul. The most-ordered dish is the brisket-and-tartare set (300 g thick-cut brisket plus 200 g chili-perilla beef tartare) at 59,000 won, ordered in 22 of the 28 visit posts. Others had the rib-finger set for two (54,900 won) or 500 g of imported garlic-marinated rib meat (49,900 won). You grill at the table over charcoal and fetch lettuce and side dishes from a self-service bar. One couple paid 61,000 won for the set and a bowl of acorn-jelly soup, about 40,000 won each with two bottles of soju. One post says the place opened in June. We read 30 posts dated 11 July to 14 October 2026, 28 of them from actual visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Fifteen posts said the prices were reasonable and none called the place expensive. Bear in mind that many of these posts carry the same block of promotional hashtags.
  2. Four posts said they saw the farm address (Jangsu-myeon, Yeongju) at the top of the wall menu, or grading slips displayed by the entrance. Nearly every post repeats the line about beef raised on the house's own farm with no middlemen, but that is the shop's own claim, so we did not count it.
  3. Five posts said the brisket is cut noticeably thicker than the usual paper-thin kind. Whether it is frozen first is disputed: one post says it is frozen once so it can be sliced, while two say it is fresh, not frozen.
  4. Eleven posts called the room spacious and eight called it clean. One counted about ten four-person tables with more seating further in, and one noted that the floor wasn't greasy, unusual for a grill house. Two mentioned a separate area, but neither said clearly whether it is a private room.
4 more
  1. Nine posts found the portions generous, several saying the set alone was enough without ordering more. One said it wasn't large, but just right for two women.
  2. Six posts ordered on a tablet or kiosk at the table; one noted that every item has a photo and a description.
  3. One post had to wait: they put their name down, walked around the block, and still waited a while longer. Two others had no wait, one of them on a weekday around 6 p.m. Three posts booked ahead, one through Naver for 6 p.m. on a Wednesday.
  4. Six posts said the place is easy to reach by subway; one walked about ten minutes from Mongchontoseong Station on Line 8. The usual figures (8 minutes from Songpanaru exit 2, 10 from Jamsil exit 10) are mostly copied from listings.

Where it is

Map showing where Myeongnang Chuksan is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Six posts said the place is easy to reach by subway; one walked about ten minutes from Mongchontoseong Station on Line 8. The usual figures (8 minutes from Songpanaru exit 2, 10 from Jamsil exit 10) are mostly copied from listings.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 28 posts

No post described the floor from experience. The "1st floor" in the address is the registered listing. That doesn't mean it isn't on the ground floor; nobody actually said.

No post said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Three only mention a folding front door that is left wide open on mild evenings.

Two posts said the toilet is inside the restaurant, and one found fabric deodoriser, mouthwash and floss there. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing info, so we did not count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours mostly agree on 4 p.m. opening and 2 a.m. closing Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday and Monday closing differs: 1 a.m. in 11 posts, midnight in two, 11 p.m. in one. Two July posts said it opened at 3 p.m., one adding that it closed on Sundays, so the hours appear to have changed since. Nearly all of these are copied from listings; check before you go.
  • The side that comes with the set has changed. Posts up to about mid-September got sweet-sour jjolmyeon noodles; later ones got brisket doenjang rice instead, which one post says replaced the noodles "due to store circumstances." An October post noted the doenjang wasn't on the menu board but came anyway.
  • Prices mostly agree, with a few splits. Cold noodles are 6,000 won in two posts and 7,000 in two. Fresh rib meat per 100 g was 18,000 won in July (from the shop's menu photo) and 20,000 in September. One post gives the set as 59,900 won and another as 49,000, but the other 20 say 59,000, so we treated those as typos.
  • More than 20 posts give the phone number 0507-1440-3527 (a Naver Smart Call line); one also lists 02-414-3433. Several posts copy that bookings are taken by phone or through Naver, and three actually booked ahead.
  • Many posts end with the same eight hashtags in the same order, which suggests commissioned content, though only one discloses sponsorship. We still counted each post on its own, because each describes an actual meal. One post that only praises the place without naming a dish or price, and one that lists it among five restaurants, were not counted as visits.
