BEANSTELLA
빈스텔라 Binseutella A big riverside bakery cafe over the Geum, third floor adults only
Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →
Beanstella is a large bakery cafe on a rise above the Geum river in Yeondong-myeon, Sejong. Two buildings stand side by side: this page is about the cafe in the left one, while the annexe on the right holds a separate Italian restaurant of the same name, Beanstella Bistro, with its own menu and its own hours. The cafe's ground floor is rented out for functions, so customers go up to the second, and because the second and third floors open into each other the ceiling is high. Both flanks are full-height glass, with the river or the woods depending on where you sit, plus a terrace and a walking path behind the building. The third floor is adults only. Coffee and bread are made on site; an americano is 5,500 won and a salt roll 3,000. The writing we read runs from January 2025 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart
- The third floor is adults only — seven writers say so, and one guesses it is because the second and third floors open into each other and that is no place for a small child. Two note that if you have children you simply stay on the second floor. One post from January 2025, though, says the no-kids floor was the second; whether the rule moved or the writer mixed it up, the posts cannot tell us.
- The second and third floors open into one another, so the ceiling runs very high; five writers lead with that sense of space and one says it floors you on the way in. The same structure carries sound, and that same writer adds a warning: it echoes and can be louder than you expect, which matters if you came to talk quietly or to work.
- Glass runs the full height on both flanks, and seven writers mention it — but what you see through it depends on where you sit. Some describe the river, others only trees and the garden. One splits the difference: mostly a wall of woods, with the Geum visible from certain seats. Another says the third floor takes in the river and Gyeryongsan together.
- There is a terrace, and behind the building a garden path. Seven writers describe it — one notes that each wooden deck holds a single table, another that the lawn runs down toward the river. One walked it after a rain shower and wrote about the smell of the flowers and the grass.
3 more
- Cats live here. Three writers saw them: one says two keep station on the ground floor, the others spotted a single one by the window or outside. One reports that it kept snoring with a person standing right beside it.
- A self-service station lets you warm bread or pack it up — four writers mention the oven, the microwave, the bags and the tongs. One says the bakery starts discounting around five in the afternoon; she bought bread for the next day and reckoned it came out well under a normal bakery's price.
- Eat at the bistro next door and they hand you a coupon for 20% off a drink at the cafe. Three writers mention it, and one adds that it covers drinks only.

There is a free lot in front of the building, and twelve writers mention it. Two tried to count it, arriving at "more than ten cars" and "about twenty". One of them also says the lot is always full because the place is popular — while another, who has been more than five times, says there has always been room.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 12 of 15 posts |
|---|---|
| Step-free access | 1 of 15 posts |
| Toilet inside | 2 of 15 posts |
The public rooms start on the second floor — two writers say the ground floor is kept for functions and you go up. Only one describes the way up, and that one line matters: there is a slope as well as steps, and she took a stroller up without trouble. Whether there is a lift, how you get from the second floor to the third, and how steep that slope actually is — nobody wrote any of it down. One line is not enough to decide whether a wheelchair gets in.
Two writers place the toilet inside the cafe; one adds that its entrance is prettily done up and that a door beside it leads out to the garden. Which floor it is on, and whether men's and women's are separate, nobody says. One post does carry the phrase "separate men's and women's", but it is lifted straight from the Naver facilities list, so we did not count it.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 21 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Come in the afternoon and the bread may be gone. Five writers hit that wall: not much left on a weekday, nearly sold out by late lunch, all but empty by the time they left. If the bread is the point, come early — though nobody wrote down when anything actually comes out of the oven.
- The closing time moved. Five posts between June 2025 and 3 January 2026 give 8pm; seven posts from 5 January 2026 on give 7.30. Thirteen agree on 10.30 for opening. Two others say 10am to 9pm, and since those two sit on either side of the change they cannot be explained by it — the bistro next door runs 11 to 9, and its hours may have bled across. Only one post mentions a closing day, and says there is none.
- Writers flatly disagree about the noise. One says the open well between the second and third floors makes it echo and get louder than you would guess; another, describing the spot she chose, says the tables are far enough apart that she could not hear other people talking. It may simply depend on where you sit, but nothing in the posts establishes that. Three writers do say the third floor is the quieter one.
- Writers do not agree on the prices. One finds the menu on the dear side; two others call it cheap for a cafe this size and say the bread in particular is kindly priced. The two may not actually conflict — both of the "cheap" verdicts are about bread, and nobody calls a 5,500-won americano cheap. One writer puts it as value rather than price: the cost and the taste of a big cafe, and not enough of the second for the first.
- One writer found the tables uncleared — a weekday visit in August 2026, where she notes she may have arrived just after a rush, but that the tables had plainly not been wiped and it put her off. None of the other fourteen say the room was clean, and none say it was dirty. One person, one visit, and we have no idea how usual it is.
- Pets are not allowed inside. Two writers copy the same house rules: one drink per person, no pets, no outside food. A marketing agency's post — which we left out of the count because it records no visit — claims dogs can run free in the garden behind. Nobody who actually brought an animal has written about it.
- You need a car. Two writers say as much — one doubts you could get here on public transport at all, the other simply calls a car essential. Not one of the fifteen mentions a bus stop, a station or how long the walk from either would be; they all drove, or never said. Several repeat that it is under twenty minutes from Sejong, Daejeon or Cheongju, but that too is a driving time.
- Two businesses share this address. This page is the bakery cafe on floors one to three of the main building; in the annexe beside it sits Beanstella Bistro, an Italian restaurant with its own hours (11am to 9pm), its own phone number and its own menu. Of the thirty posts we were given, seven were about the bistro alone and are out entirely, and four more ate at the bistro before crossing over — from those we counted only the cafe paragraphs. None of the pasta, pizza or steak prices belong here, so none of them were carried across.
- The cafe's ground floor is a space for hire. Three writers call it a party room or lounge, two mention first-birthday parties, seminars and group events, and one adds small weddings. Not one of them has used it — they either walked past or repeated the notice. We know neither the price nor how you book it.
- Not one post declares a sponsorship. Three say they paid their own way and the other twelve say nothing about money, which is not the same as saying nobody was paid. Among the seven we left out of the count is one written from a marketing agency's own account — and it does not declare anything either.
