Yakitori Sasa
야키토리 사사 Charcoal-grilled skewers and butter-mayo crab on Hakdong's drinking lane in Yeosu, open until two in the morning
Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →
Yakitori Sasa is a ground-floor izakaya at the mouth of the drinking lane in Buyeong Samdanji, Hakdong, Yeosu. Charcoal-grilled skewers are the sign over the door and the butter-mayo crab is the dish it was known for — but twenty of the twenty-eight posts we read ordered the raw shrimp set at ₩40,000, a seasonal menu it introduced in the summer of 2026. It opens at five in the evening and runs to two in the morning, three on Fridays and Saturdays, which is why four writers file it as somewhere you go second rather than first. Counter seats and tables both, fine for one person and seating up to twenty by one account. There is no car park. The posts we read run from May to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart
- The thing written about most here is not a dish you pay for. Twenty-four of twenty-eight describe the free starter: cabbage salad in a soy dressing, plus banana under chocolate syrup with pretzels. Four say they had never been handed banana in an izakaya before, and three judge the whole place by it — if the owner bothers with the freebie, the reasoning goes, he bothers with the rest. One writer says a refill costs ₩3,000; another says the cabbage refills and the banana does not.
- Thirteen writers say the shrimp is sweet — and they use that sweetness as the proof it is fresh: the sweetness rises as you chew, and that is how you know. Nothing else here — not price, not parking, not the queue — comes up that often. Two add separately that there was no fishy edge at all. Nobody wrote that it was not sweet.
- Eight of the posts collected a receipt-review freebie — persimmon with cream cheese, or a fruit sorbet; six took the persimmon. One recipient read the menu and concluded that ₩9,000 for a dab of cream cheese and one almond is exactly why you should write the review. Not one of the twenty-eight paid for it. Worth knowing when you wonder how this many posts appeared this fast.
- Whether you wait depends on when you come. Five got straight in — one of them on a weekend evening — the rest at six on a Tuesday, a Sunday evening, or early on a weekday. Against that, one found every table taken on a weekday evening and reckoned she had only just made it, and one found the place nearly full on a Saturday. Two describe arriving at five to one or two occupied tables and watching it fill.
3 more
- You can come alone. Fifteen posts describe both a counter and tables; ten say specifically that drinking alone works here, and five that from the counter you can watch the skewers being grilled. One counts about twelve tables, one says three push together for a group, one puts the maximum at twenty. Ordering is by tablet or kiosk in nine accounts; one notes the counter uses a QR code and the tables a tablet.
- Butter and mayonnaise stack up. Four writers call it heavy, and three of them say in the next line how they got round it: a mouthful of pickled radish, a mouthful of rice ball, less sauce on the fork. On saltiness the accounts split evenly — one says the steak sauce is salty by design, which is why rice comes with it, and one was warned off emptying the soy jug over her egg rice; two others found the seasoning judged exactly right.
- Not everyone was won over. A three-day Yeosu trip log dismisses it in one line — an ordinary izakaya, though clean inside. A longer post that scores each dish lists its reservations plainly: the food fell short of expectations, the room does more work than the cooking, and when it is busy the call button goes unanswered. That is the only complaint about service we found; two others praise it. The same writer gave the butter-mayo crab five stars.

No car park of its own. Four writers who drove say so, and one records that this changed: two or three years ago you could pull up outside, and now there is a double yellow line, so it is the multi-storey and the first hour is free. Another names the two municipal lots nearby; a third also mentions a free first hour. Two simply advise leaving the car at home — it is a drinking street.

Where it is

Getting inside
Nobody writes about a step or a floor. The address says ground floor and the posts copy the address, but copying an address is not seeing a door. Not one describes whether you go up anything to get in, or whether the entrance is level with the pavement. Three note only that the front is glazed, so you can see in from the street.
Whether a wheelchair gets in, we do not know. One post does say the entrance, the seating and the toilet are all wheelchair-accessible — but that line is lifted wholesale from the shop's Naver listing, sitting in a row with wine pairing, high chairs and corkage, typo included. Not one writer looked at a threshold or a ramp and wrote down what they saw. A line in a post is not the same as a person having seen it.
There is nothing about the toilets that we can count. Four posts state that men's and women's are separate; all four are reciting the same listing. Nobody says whether the toilet is inside the premises or out of them, how big it is, or what state it was in. For a bar that runs to three in the morning, that is a gap worth naming.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Nobody writes about getting here without a car. Not one of the twenty-eight mentions a bus or a train. One arrived by taxi, and only because a driver suggested the neighbourhood after a first round somewhere else. Several were in Yeosu as tourists, and still no one says how far it is from a station or a stop.
- The evidence covers five months. All thirty posts we read were written between May and September 2026, twenty-six of them between July and September, piling up as the seasonal raw shrimp arrived. The numbers on this page therefore describe this place in summer and early autumn. What it sells in winter, and what fills the gap when shrimp season ends, we do not know. One writer notes the shrimp is not on the printed menu at all — it appears when the season does.
- Three posts were fed and one was given something. One says outright that the shrimp set was provided; one marks the point where she starts paying for herself; one flags at the top that the meal was part-paid. A fourth paid in full and was handed butter-fried shrimp heads on the house. Exactly one post shows a receipt and calls it her own money. The other twenty-four say nothing at all, and saying nothing is not the same as paying.
- Three different phone numbers appear. Ten posts give one, two give another, and a post from May 2026 gives a third. The first is both the commonest and the most recent, but from the posts alone we cannot say which one is answered today.
