Data as of · Published ·
Cheomdan Gongwon Gukbap in Naju's Bitgaram-dong sits on the ground floor of the Todam Rich Tower. It is a branch of a Gwangju shop twenty years old, opened at the start of 2025, and the twenty-eight posts we read run from February 2025 to September 2026. Eighteen of them ordered the mixed gukbap at ₩10,000 — blood sausage, glutinous sausage, head meat, offal and blood curd in one bowl, with a tick-box at ordering for anything you would rather leave out. Twenty-five describe the self-service side-dish bar, nineteen the two private rooms that seat six to ten, and twenty-one the car park in the building. Open every day, no closing day and no afternoon break.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart
- Twenty-five of the twenty-eight describe the self-service bar, which the restaurant calls the "side-dish pantry." Pooling what they list: green chilli, onion, chives, soybean paste, salted shrimp, cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi, plus chilli-vinegar paste, perilla powder, pepper and seasoned salt, with plates, ladles, tongs, scissors and aprons. One way of eating travels from post to post because of it — chilli-vinegar paste mixed with perilla powder, as a dip for the sausage and the meat. Six writers describe it; one jokes that she had been recommending the combination for years and now finds it written on the bar itself. The three dishes that arrive without asking are always the same: cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi and raw chives — and one writer notes how rarely a gukbap place gives you chives.
- There are two private rooms, and nineteen posts mention them. Four say they hold six to ten; one writer thought a wall was a wall until it opened; another calls the doors gleaming gold. One notes that a room has a full window along one side, so it does not feel shut in. Few writers actually sat in one — two say outright that they did not, and the rest looked in or photographed the door. Two say the rooms are for booked parties. Three posts mention high chairs, two of them inside a room.
- Seventeen of the twenty-eight say the portions are large — the most consistent thing anyone says about the food here. The bowl is filled to overflowing; one bowl does for two meals; there was so much meat that the rice went back; full to bursting. All eight who comment on the price call it cheap — two use the phrase "ten thousand won of happiness," one marvels that nothing tops ₩10,000 at today's prices, another simply calls the price-to-quality ratio insane. Not one of the twenty-eight calls the place expensive.
- Eight posts say there is no off-smell, which is the first hurdle for a place selling pig offal: no gaminess and no odour even from the innards; one writer who avoids the smell in sausage soup elsewhere found none here. One post says the opposite — a companion caught a trace of it, and happened to prefer it that way, and finished the bowl. Eight to one. Four more say it is not spicy: the red in the broth is the chilli paste, which you can leave out at ordering.
- You order from a tablet at the table, and fifteen posts mention it. What matters is not the machine but what it lets you take out: the chilli paste, the perilla powder, the offal, the bean sprouts, the head meat, each its own tick-box. Six writers name this as a reason to come — one wanted the mixed bowl without the head meat, another asked for extra bean sprouts and no perilla, a third liked not having to say any of it out loud. It is the same story as the plain head-meat bowl for people who do not want innards. On paying, three posts note that the Naju local gift vouchers are accepted.
- Nothing is added to the bill. There is a coffee machine by the till and you pull a cup on the way out — six posts mention it, three took one. Toothpicks and mints sit on the window ledge by the door; one regular says she only noticed them on her second visit. Side dishes are unlimited from the bar — two writers refilled the radish kimchi two or three times — and water comes in a bottle. Two posts mention a review promotion, and only one says what it gets you: a plate of sausage.

Parking

The parking belongs to the building, not the restaurant. Twenty-one posts mention it and they converge on the same line: two hours free in the Todam Rich Tower garage if you eat here. Three writers actually parked. One validated it on a tablet at the till; one arrived only because another restaurant's garage was full; and one, who has been many times, reports that at midday there is room for perhaps one or two cars at ground level and that evenings are easier — the one account that cuts against the general impression of plenty, and the only one based on repeated visits. One post says it is ₩1,000 per half hour beyond the two, three that weekends and holidays are free throughout. One warns against leaving a car in front of the shop, where it blocks the lane.

Getting there

Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair. Across twenty-eight posts the words wheelchair, threshold and ramp never appear. The nearest thing is a single line about a pushchair: the tables are far enough apart that one would fit through. Even that writer was estimating, not pushing one. What we know is that the room is at street level — four posts say so — and nothing about whether there is a step at the door. Read it alongside the fact that the toilets are out in the building.
The toilets are not inside the restaurant — and one writer in twenty-eight says so. That post explains that you use the building's, going out of the door and into the lobby on either side, and photographs the sign on the wall that says as much. A second writer gives the toilets three stars in a summary box without a word about why. Whether they are separated by sex, how many stalls, or how far you have to walk mid-meal, nobody says.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The opening time appears to have moved — though we cannot say so flatly. Fourteen posts say the doors open at 7am and eight say 10am. Thirteen of the fourteen are clustered in February to April 2025, and all eight of the later figure run from June 2025 to September 2026 — so far, a change rather than a disagreement. But the fourteenth is from January 2026 and still says 7am. It may be copied from an old listing; we have not checked. The two most recent posts, from September 2026, say 10am. It matters because the early hour is why some people came: one writer explains that almost nothing in this district opens early, and describes eating blood-sausage soup before eight in the morning after a heavy night. If you are going in the morning, phone first. On the closing time, 11pm, all twenty-two agree, as they do that there is no closing day and no afternoon break.
- Nobody writes about getting here without a car. In twenty-eight posts there is not one bus number or stop name, and Bitgaram-dong has no railway station. The closest anyone comes is a note that it is 2.4km, thirty-eight minutes on foot, from the Geumcheon junction — a figure added alongside driving directions. Two writers walked, and both live nearby: one from the cram school next door, one who set out for a walk instead of the gym and went in hungry. One locates it by the KDN building opposite. Not a single post describes arriving from any distance by public transport.
- Almost nobody reports waiting, which is not the same as there being no queue. Three posts touch on it and they do not agree: lunchtime is packed (reported second-hand by someone who came at four), a weekday visit found the room half empty, and a third says you can walk in on a weekday without booking. Two more watched it fill: one says the place went from quiet to full in the ten minutes she spent photographing it, another found it busy even after the lunch rush. Not one of the twenty-eight arrived at peak lunchtime and timed the wait. What five of them do say is that this place has no afternoon break, and one explains why that matters here: the district is full of public offices, lunch queues are a given, and other restaurants shut their doors when they run over.
- Not everyone was won over. One of the twenty-eight writes that the Gwangju original had raised her expectations too high and that she found nothing special here, and that she would go to the original next time. Fourteen posts note that this is a branch, and for most of them that is a reason to trust it; only this one writer compared and came away short. Three other complaints exist: food that was slow to arrive at the peak of lunch; meat and sausage that seemed to be added last, cold against a hot broth; and a mixed sausage plate that turned out to hold only one kind.
