Ilho Junghwa Yori is a Chinese restaurant on Wolgok-ro in Gochang town, between the courthouse and the Hwang Yun-seok library, on the ground floor of the Domino's building. It began in Haeri-myeon out on the coast, moved into town after the tvN show Three Meals a Day filmed there, and kept the old village in the name of its signature dish — haeri teuk-jjajang. It is not the usual divided bowl: black-bean noodles and a dry wok-fried jjamppong come in one bowl and you stir them together. Seventeen of the posts we read ordered it. Open ten to nine, closed Tuesdays. You order from a tablet at the table; the first round of pickles is brought to you and everything after that comes from the self-serve bar. What sets it apart

Check the address twice. The restaurant started in Haeri-myeon and moved into Gochang town after the broadcast, and there is another place of the same name out in Sangha-myeon — one writer explicitly calls this one the town branch. Among the posts we discarded, one had checked in at the town address while the text gave directions to Sangha-myeon. This page is about the shop at 38 Wolgok-ro, Gochang-eup.
The pickles come to you once; after that you help yourself. A sign at the self-serve bar asks you to take only a little at a time. Two writers single out the kimchi, which not every Chinese restaurant puts out alongside the pickled radish, onion and chunjang. Aprons, the origin notice and the wifi password are all at the same bar. Ordering is done from a tablet at the table.
The large bowl is genuinely large. Those who ordered the big haeri teuk-jjajang call the quantity startling, and one says the regular size is plenty. A writer who took the gan-jjajang left noodles behind. Even the small tangsuyuk struck two people as a lot, and one table that ordered both admits to being defeated.
The wall on the right as you come in is all photographs — the owner with whoever has been through. Several writers picked out the actor Lee Joo-seung and players from the Jeonbuk football club; one, in March 2025, noticed a portrait of the singer Song Dae-kwan, who had died the month before. More than one post remarks on the mix of people who came because of the television and regulars from the town.

The house dish, and seventeen of the twenty-six posts ordered it. It is not the usual jjamjjamyeon with a divider down the bowl: **black-bean sauce and a dry, wok-fried jjamppong arrive together in one bowl and you mix them yourself.** Two writers say the name comes from Haeri-myeon, where the restaurant used to be. Four found squid in it; one also found shrimp.
**Accounts of the price differ.** Four posts from March–May 2026 and one from August 2025 give ₩10,000; a single post from 18 May 2026 gives ₩9,000, three days after another gave ₩10,000, and we cannot tell which is current. One post gives ₩11,000 for the large bowl, which two writers call genuinely large.

There is a car park, but it is not the restaurant's alone. Those who parked in front put the capacity at five to seven cars, and one writer explains that it is shared with the neighbouring shops and usually full. Two ended up in the side street or on the main road; another simply parked at the library across the way and walked over. At weekends or at mealtimes, plan on the side street.

Nobody looked at the doorway. Across all twenty-six posts, no one mentions a step, a ramp, a wheelchair or a pushchair. That is not the same as saying you cannot get in — it means no one wrote it down. Two writers do report, from their own eyes, that the lavatories are not shared between men and women. Whether they are inside the restaurant, how big they are, and whether there is an accessible one, nobody says.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

The posts disagree about whether there is a private room. Several describe one off the main hall, good for groups, and one writer moved into it because the hall was warm. But a party that came in late March 2026 says flatly that there was no room, only tables. We cannot tell whether they missed it or it was already taken. If you need one, ring ahead.
Nobody wrote about a bus or a train. Across the twenty-six posts there is no station, no terminal, no bus number, and no one who walked. The closest anyone comes is a writer who notes it is walkable from the Hwang Yun-seok library but says they drove because of the heat. Everyone drove, so we do not know whether this is a place you can reach without a car. It sits in the middle of Gochang town, between the courthouse and the library, and one writer puts it two minutes by car from the town fortress.
Only one writer says what floor it is on — the ground floor of the Domino's building. A second mentions the same building but not the floor. How many steps there are at the door, or whether there is a lift, nobody says.
Two prices don't settle. For the signature dish, four posts from spring 2026 and one from August 2025 give ₩10,000, while a single post from 18 May 2026 gives ₩9,000 — three days after another gave ₩10,000, so we cannot tell whether it is an old figure copied across or what they actually paid. The brisket jjamppong is ₩13,000 in a January 2025 post and on the April 2026 board, but ₩11,000 for someone who ate it in April 2025. Read the board when you get there.
Last orders seem to have crept earlier. Posts from November 2024 to August 2025 say 8:30pm; those from March 2026 say 8:20; those from August 2026 say 8:10. The split is clean by date, which reads less like disagreement than like a change — but we have not confirmed which is current. Closing at nine is agreed by all but one of the nineteen posts that give hours. Twelve say the shop is shut on Tuesdays; one post alone says it never closes.
Not one post declares a sponsorship. Eight state outright that they paid their own way, two of them with a photograph of the receipt. Two things to note all the same. A group that ordered several dishes was given fried dumplings on the house. And twenty-six posts are not twenty-six people — one blogger came in January and again in March 2025 and wrote both times. One further post comes from a blog run by the Gochang county office; nothing is disclosed, but it is written to promote the area.
No one actually queued. Several writers found the place nearly full at lunch, or busy even at three in the afternoon, but not one reports waiting. Two say they only just missed having to — and did not. One guesses that a Chinese restaurant turns tables fast enough that it would not take long, but that is a guess, not an observation. Read it as: we have no post from the peak of a rush.
