Korean

Mibok Sikdang

미복식당 Sikdang simply means eatery; none of the posts explains what Mibok stands for, and one blogger even grumbled that the name sounds unappetizing.

A home-style set-meal restaurant on the Iljudong-ro roadside in Onpyeong-ri, Seongsan, on Jeju's east coast. The draw is a 10,000-won set for one: spicy stir-fried pork and a whole fried fish, with rice, soup and side dishes. It now opens at 8:30 a.m. (two August 2025 posts say 7:30), and many visitors came for breakfast. Sea-urchin noodles, abalone porridge (12,000 won) and braised hairtail or mackerel are also on the menu, but only four posts ordered the noodles and one the hairtail; everyone else had the set. We read 30 posts dated 9 August 2025 to 21 October 2026; 28 describe an actual visit.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. All 16 posts that mention quantity say it is a lot. One solo diner thought a single portion looked like enough for two; a couple who ordered two sets could not finish the side dishes.
  2. The fish in the set changes from day to day: posts name fried anchovies, mackerel, yellow croaker, tilefish, rockfish, flatfish and hairtail. All 13 posts that describe the coating call it crisp, and three say the fish is fried only once you order.
  3. Solo diners can order a single set; three posts say so explicitly, and four were written by people who ate alone.
  4. You park in the yard right in front. Twelve posts say they parked there without trouble. The four that estimate the size disagree: about ten cars, about five (and cramped), four to seven, and roughly five. One warns that you turn straight in off the main road, so go slowly.

  1. Every post that gives a price, from August 2025 to October 2026, says 10,000 won for the set; fifteen remark that it is cheap for what you get.
  2. Six posts describe going with children. Three noticed high chairs, and one found a child's potty and wet wipes in the women's restroom. In one post the owner made a sausage stir-fry for a child who had nothing to eat; in another a toddler ate the fried anchovies bones and all.
  3. Nine posts say the owner or staff were kind. Two were offered tangerines after the meal, one from the owner's own orchard. A September 2025 post describes an elderly woman cooking and a man who seemed to be her son serving.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 27 posts

No post says which floor it is on. One describes a small standalone building by the road, but nobody actually states it is at ground level.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One mentions walking straight from the parking yard to the front door, but says nothing about steps.

Nobody says whether the restroom is inside the restaurant. A single post mentions a women's restroom with a child's potty, which is all we know about separate restrooms.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts disagree on whether the pork is spicy: four say it is not, two call it hot.
  • Opening hours vary from post to post. The two posts that copied the sign on the door (February and October 2026) give weekdays 8:30–20:00 with last orders at 19:00, and weekends 8:30–14:00 with last orders at 13:00. Ten posts say it closes at 19:00 on weekdays, but one notes the posted hours differ from Naver's listing. Two August 2025 posts say it opened at 7:30, so the opening time seems to have moved later since. Only one copied info block says there is no regular day off.
  • Prices for the braised hairtail conflict: 35,000 won medium and 45,000 won large on the July 2026 board, but 45,000 won for a medium in a September 2025 post. We could not tell which is right.
  • No post describes arriving by bus or on foot. One blogger says she passed it constantly on the No. 201 bus, so a bus route runs past; everyone else drove.
  • No post reports waiting. Several found it empty or with a table or two on weekday mornings; one blogger who walked straight in at breakfast drove past at lunch and saw a full lot and people waiting. Whether you will queue at lunch, we don't know.
  • Seven posts give the same phone number (0507-1413-0705), but none says whether you can book. A capacity of twenty for groups appears once, as hearsay.
