Noodle houseKorean

Guksuinga Galchiinga

국수인가갈치인가 The name asks 'Is it noodles, or is it hairtail?' — the house serves both Jeju pork-broth noodles and boneless braised hairtail.

A red single-storey restaurant on Seoseongil-ro 913 in Seongsan, Jeju, a short drive inland from Seongsan Ilchulbong. As the name says, it serves both Jeju pork-broth noodles and deboned braised hairtail. Five posts give prices: the noodle set (pork noodles, spicy noodles, boiled pork) at ₩39,000 for two (three posts), pork noodles at ₩10,000 (two), boneless braised hairtail at ₩45,000 for two (one), and a braised-plus-grilled hairtail set at ₩100,000 for two (one). Every post that gives hours agrees it opens at 9 a.m. We read 24 posts from 15 August to 23 October 2026; 19 of them describe eating there.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Diners are seated in partitioned spaces. Four posts say they were given a separate room or section; one pair says they had a room to themselves for the whole meal, another describes an open area on the left for groups and divided rooms on the right. One more post describes partition walls around tables that block noise and sightlines (we did not count that one as a private room).
  2. Six posts mention friendly service. Two describe the owner walking the floor asking if anyone needs anything, one noting this even when it was busy. Another says the owner made grilled hairtail, normally only a set add-on, as a standalone dish for them.
  3. Ingredient origins are posted. Four posts saw the sign; two note everything is domestic except the mackerel, and one notes the chilli powder is partly Chinese.
  4. Dogs are allowed. Three posts brought a dog, and several mention a walking trail through tangerine groves behind the restaurant. One post saw other diners' dogs but heard no barking inside. Three posts saw high chairs for themselves.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

6 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park6 of 18 posts

There is a large private car park out front. Six posts say they parked there and all call it spacious. Five say they came by car; one says it took about 15 minutes by car from Seongsan Ilchulbong or the Udo ferry. One saw a group shuttle bus parked there.

Separate restrooms1 of 18 posts

Only one post mentions floors: the restaurant is single-storey. The '1st floor' in the address is copied text and was not counted.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether wheelchairs and strollers can get in. Four posts visited with children, but none mention it. That isn't evidence there is a barrier, only that nobody wrote about it.

The toilets are outside the building, two posts say. One explains you go out the door and turn right; it is under the same roof so you stay dry, and it is roomy and separated by sex. The other simply says it is right next to the restaurant.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Seven posts follow the same template: the same footer (number 0507-1406-3501, open daily 09:00–21:00, parking out front), the same dishes in the same order with the same phrasing, and no prices at all. One contains a stray alternate name and another a leftover review-count widget. A separate post discloses it was paid. We counted these seven but did not rely on them for prices or hours.
  • Closing time is disputed. Four hand-written posts agree on daily 09:00–20:00 with a 15:00–15:30 break and last order at 19:00. The seven templated posts say 09:00–21:00. The restaurant itself posted 21:00 (last order 20:00) on 25 August and 20:00 on 23 September. We cannot tell whether the hours changed, since a July visit already reported 20:00. For Chuseok (24–25 September), the city list showed the restaurant closed while the restaurant said it was open.
  • Three phone numbers appear: 0507-1414-3514 (the restaurant's September notice, three posts and the city list), 0507-1406-3501 (the templated posts) and 064-782-3500 (the restaurant's August notice). The restaurant lists reservations as available, but no post describes booking ahead.
  • Only five posts give prices, the latest from October 2026. The two-person braised hairtail price comes from a single post, and nobody gives standalone prices for the boiled pork or spicy noodles.
  • Nobody describes getting there by bus; every post that mentions transport came by car.
  • No post mentions waiting for a table. One says everything arrived about 10 minutes after ordering, even at lunchtime; another says dishes are cooked to order and took a little while, on a busy day. That isn't proof there's never a queue, only that nobody wrote about one.
