Dokgojip

독고집 Jip means house or eatery; none of the posts explain Dokgo, which read literally is the Korean word for solitude.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

Dokgojip is a black-pork restaurant grilling over yeontan (coal briquettes) on Dongnyuam-ro in Seongsan, within walking distance of the hotels near Seongsan Ilchulbong. The core order is a two-person set: black-pork belly plus one of jowl, neck, deolmi or gabeuri, 300 g for 33,000 won. Staff grill the meat at your table, and it opens at 5 pm. We read 30 posts dated 28 April to 15 October 2026, 27 of them from actual visits; one was about another restaurant and two only introduced the place. Three pairs of posts describe the same visit, so there were fewer than 27 separate visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling. Of 27 visit posts, 20 say staff or the owner grill everything from start to finish, moving from table to table. One writer called them curt but said they grilled to the very end; another doubted they were especially good at it. Only one post called the staff friendly.
  2. Eleven posts say you top up the side dishes — bracken, pickled wild garlic leaves, scallion salad, onion — from a self-serve bar. Bracken is the side named most often.
  3. Seven posts call it inexpensive and none call it pricey, mostly by comparison: other black-pork places start sets around 50,000–60,000 won. More than ten posts say two sets earn a free ramyeon. Four posts mention a coupon for a free kimchi stew (8,000 won) if you're seated before 6 pm, and two actually used it. Three noted a scratch-lottery ticket for writing a Naver review.
  4. Four posts booked ahead, two through Naver and one by phone. One found every other table taken on a Saturday evening; another saw it fill up right after they arrived in July. The number given is 0507-1489-8293.
3 more
  1. Waiting splits two and two. Two posts walked straight in but saw a queue forming by the time they left, one on a Sunday evening. Two others got the last free table at once, and those two were written from the same table. No post says how many minutes anyone waited.
  2. Five posts found the tables well spaced for a group of four; one said it isn't large, about eight or nine tables. Another counted eight four-seat tables. The tables are round drums with the coal fire set inside.
  3. Two writers went alone. One felt at ease because another solo diner was there; the other found the 300 g two-person set easily manageable alone.

Parking

6 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park6 of 27 posts

There is no dedicated lot; people use the public lot next door. Six posts actually parked there, one for free on a weekend. The often-repeated 'free after 5:30 pm' comes from copied info blocks, and one writer had heard instead that it is free after 6 pm on weekdays and all weekend. Two posts only mentioned street parking or parked elsewhere and walked.

Where it is

Map showing where Dokgojip is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No visitor wrote which floor it's on; a 'ground floor' note appears only in one copied info block.

No post says whether the entrance has a step or works for a wheelchair or stroller. That doesn't mean there's a problem; nobody mentioned it.

No post mentions the restroom, where it is or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Not everyone was impressed. One post found it just ordinary pork and said they'd go elsewhere next time. A returning visitor found it less tasty than the pork belly back home.
  • The jowl runs out. Two posts saw it sell out, one found the jowl set already gone at 7 pm on a weekday, and one found gabeuri sold out.
  • Prices stayed the same from April to October 2026: 33,000 won per set and 16,500 won per 150 g add-on. One post listed the jowl set at 330 g, and another a two-person belly portion at 30,000 won. Only one post gave a bill: 124,000 won for a family of four.
  • Twelve posts give the same hours, 5 pm to 10:30 pm, but all copied them from a listing. Most say open daily; one says no days off, and one says closed Thursdays. Only one gives a last order time, 9:30 pm.
  • No post describes getting there by bus. Writers either walked from nearby hotels, about five minutes, or drove (seven posts). One found the walk at night dark and a little scary.
  • Three pairs of posts describe the same visit; the two from 13 August 2026 were written at the same table and make the same points in the same order. Our counts are per post, so they include this overlap.
