Soup and riceKorean

Abai Sundae

아바이순대 Abai is a northern Korean dialect word for an old man or father; abai sundae is a dense, meat-heavy pork sausage, which is how one post here explains this house's version.

Compiled from 9 blog posts read in fullSources →

A large sundae-soup house on the main road in Seongsan, about ten minutes by car from Seongsan Ilchulbong. Six posts give the same hours: lunch only, 11:00 to 14:00, closed Sundays. The core menu is the sundae set (13,000 won in 2026), separate-rice soup (11,000) and a daily-changing lunch set (11,000); on weekends the hall is also hired out for Jeju-style wedding feasts, and two posts were written by people who held theirs here. We read 17 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 9 of them describe actually eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Five posts said there is no off smell in the offal or meat. One explained that the sausage here has almost no glass noodle and is mostly meat, giving it a very heavy, dense bite.
  2. Five posts called the room spacious and three mentioned a separate private room. One guessed the hall and rooms together could seat over a hundred; of the two posts by solo diners, one said the size makes eating alone comfortable.
  3. Three posts came with family, and two of those were wedding feasts held in the hired hall. They describe a Jeju spread of tilefish, momguk and dombae pork rather than sausage, and both say the feast ran from morning into the evening.

Where it is

Map showing where Abai Sundae is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says what floor the dining room is on; that is a gap in what was written, not evidence either way.

Nobody mentioned an entrance step or wheelchair or stroller access. We don't know.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 11 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Six posts list the same hours (11:00-14:00, closed Sundays), but mostly copied into an info box at the top. Two posts warn that on Fridays and Saturdays the place is often booked for feasts and may not take regular diners, so phone ahead (064-784-0059). Nobody said whether ordinary table reservations are taken.
  • The sundae set's price shifts over time: a November 2024 post said it was 12,000 won, not the 10,000 on the Naver menu photo; posts from late January and March 2026 say 13,000. One early-January 2026 post wrote 11,000. Three posts called the prices cheap.
  • On waiting, one post only said turnover is fast so waits are short; no one gave minutes. One post said rice and sides arrived almost as soon as they ordered.
  • No post arrived by bus; two came by car and others only give the drive time from Seongsan Ilchulbong. We don't know how practical public transport is.
