Deokseongwon Bonjeom

덕성원 본점

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

The original branch of an ethnic-Chinese restaurant open since 1945, near Lee Jung-seop Street in old Seogwipo. Crab jjamppong (11,500 won) is the signature, usually ordered with ganjjajang, sweet-and-sour pork or fried dumplings. We read 11 posts from October 2025 to October 2026; 8 describe a visit (two list or history posts were not counted, one massage-shop post was set aside). Six visit posts give the same hours, daily 11:00-21:00, closed the second Tuesday of each month, mostly copied from the listing.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Four posts say portions are large: one compared the noodles favorably with Seoul Chinese restaurants, one found even a small kkanpunggi plentiful, and a couple took home more than half of a small sweet-and-sour pork.
  2. The sweet-and-sour pork comes in a glutinous-rice batter. Five posts found the frying crisp; one said it was chewy rather than crisp. Two noted the sauce was not too sweet.
  3. Despite its age, five posts describe the dining room as roomy and three as clean. Two mention private rooms (one says the ground floor is split into a hall and rooms), and one mentions high chairs for babies.

1 posts say you can park; 1 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 8 posts read)

Only one post mentions floors, describing a ground-floor hall and rooms; another guessed from outside that the second floor is also used.

We do not know whether the entrance has a step or is wheelchair- or stroller-friendly; no post mentions it.

We do not know where the restroom is or whether it is separated by gender; no post mentions it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 10 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post reports actually waiting. One got a table straight away at lunch, one went at the 11:00 opening and warned that seats fill fast, and one found it quiet around 5 p.m. Mealtime queues appear only as hearsay.
  • Views on price differ: two posts called it fair (a family of four paid 57,000 won), while one found it a bit dear but justified by the portions. One post recalls the crab jjamppong at 11,000 won; posts from May 2026 on all give 11,500 won.
  • We do not know how to get there by bus; every post that described the trip came by car (three posts).
  • Two posts list the same phone number, 0507-1430-2420, but none says whether reservations are taken.
  • Two posts came as a couple, one with family and one with a local friend; none came alone.
  • Six visit posts agree on the hours, but five copied them from the listing rather than confirming them; three add a last order at 20:00.
