Notameno Seukiyaki

노타메노 스키야키 The house's Instagram calls itself 'for you, Notameno Sukiyaki' — the name echoes the Japanese '(anata) no tame no', 'for your sake'.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

Notameno Sukiyaki sits on a side street in Samdo-dong, Jeju City, near Gwandeokjeong and Dongmun Market. Its Jeju black-pork sukiyaki, Noknamu, is 28,000 won a head and comes as a sequence: hutgae tea, the pot, stir-fried udon, then matcha ice cream. Every seat is at a counter wrapped around the kitchen, and staff cook the pot for you. We read 30 posts from September 2 to October 28, 2026; one was about another restaurant, and all of the other 29 describe a visit. Posts from early September say pork was the only option; from late September a Jeju Hanwoo pot, Chamkkot (57,000 won), is listed too.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Every seat is at the counter: 20 posts said so and none mentioned a table. Posts split on the induction burners — one said each seat has its own, good for eating alone; another said it is one burner per two people, so a party of three leaves someone odd one out. One post noted the room itself is small.
  2. Staff do the cooking. Twenty posts said staff crack the egg, pour the sauce and stock, add more ingredients as you go, and stir-fry the udon at the end. One wrote that all they had to do was eat, and several said staff ask how much udon you want.
  3. Fourteen posts went with a reservation, and several found a name card or welcome note waiting at their seat. One summer visitor said a same-day booking was still possible.
  4. Rice and vegetables are topped up free on request; nine posts said they had more. One noted the first bowl of rice is small but refillable. Extra meat, egg or shiitake is charged.
3 more
  1. Seven posts mentioned a shelf or locker behind the seats for bags, and several noticed fabric spray set out for the smell.
  2. Twelve posts called it quiet or calm; one said they found themselves lowering their voices.
  3. Three posts saw a child seat. One family with a young daughter said the house warned them ahead that counter seating can be awkward for children, set out kids' tableware, and suggested a regular high stool because the baby chair sits too low for the counter.

Parking

Posts saying you can park3 of 27 posts

Three posts parked themselves: two right in front, one at the Mugeunseong public lot. The line about street parking after 5 pm, a free lot at Samdo-dong 1127-4 and the public lot (free after 6 pm) is the house's notice copied word for word across many posts, so we didn't count it. One post's copy says there is no dedicated parking.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 27 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 27 posts read)

No post described the floor from experience; the '1st floor' in the address is copied. That does not mean otherwise — nobody wrote about it.

No post mentioned a step at the entrance or coming in with a wheelchair or stroller. Several remarked on the big, unusual door, but they disagree on what it is: a pivoting door, a glass swing door, or a glass front that slides wide open. We don't know whether a wheelchair can get in.

Only one post said where the toilet is: outside the building, down an alley with a sign, and shared by men and women. Another said only that it was very clean.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post described getting there by bus. Two walked from their lodging or home, and several said it is 10–15 minutes by car from the airport. Nobody mentioned a bus stop.
  • No post reported waiting, mostly because they had booked. We don't know the wait without a reservation. One post urged booking because seats fill fast; another said reservations run in 30-minute slots.
  • Copied opening hours disagree. Of 25 posts that gave them, 19 say opening is 4:30 pm, 5 say 5:00 pm and 1 says 4:00 pm; last order is 8:30 pm in 16 and 9:00 pm in 6. It isn't a change over time — an October 27 post still says 5:00. One post noted two listing sites disagree and advised calling. Only one post said it is open every day of the year.
  • Prices: Noknamu (pork) is 28,000 won a head, Chamkkot (Hanwoo) 57,000. Two posts said one order per person is required, so dinner for two on pork starts at 56,000 won. Highballs are 10,000 won and a bottle of Gujwa Seongsanpo soju 18,000. Two posts relay a corkage fee of 20,000 won per table.
  • Many posts copy the same phone number, 0507-1341-0312. Most who booked did so through Naver; no post said they reserved by phone.
  • The menu changed. Posts up to early September 2026 said Jeju black-pork sukiyaki was the only dish; from September 29 a Jeju Hanwoo pot, Chamkkot, appears as well, and an October 26 visitor found the beef sold out by evening. The stated meat portion also differs: 150 g of neck and loin in a September 5 post, 120 g of neck in posts from late September. A September 9 post said the chicken-skin gyoza was off because of a poultry issue.
  • No post disclosed sponsorship and two said they paid their own way. Still, the same lines — five years of sukiyaki expertise at home and abroad, an interview by the Japanese consulate in Jeju, a secret sauce of 17 ingredients — recur across many posts under near-identical titles. We treated those as the house's own claims, not evidence, and counted only what each writer actually ate and saw.
