Jeju Cheonggiwa Jangeo
제주청기와장어 Cheonggiwa means blue-glazed roof tiles — the restaurant sits under a blue-tiled hanok roof opposite Yeomiji Botanical Garden — and jangeo means eel.

Jeju Cheonggiwa Jangeo is an eel restaurant in a large blue-tiled building at 90 Jungmungwangwang-ro, across from Yeomiji Botanical Garden in the Jungmun resort area of Seogwipo. For grilled eel you pick a fish from a refrigerated case at the entrance and pay by weight (9,600 won per 100 g in September 2026); at lunch most people order the eel set, one eel with hijiki pot rice and bracken eel soup, at 33,000 won per person. An August 2025 post called it newly opened. We read 30 posts from June 2025 to October 2026; 27 describe an actual meal, and 21 of the 30 fall in September–October 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Extra side dishes come from a self-serve bar. Nineteen posts say they went back for more, and the kimchi gets singled out most, from cabbage kimchi refilled twice to the fresh geotjeori-style kimchi at the bar. One post disagreed, finding the side dishes thin compared with other eel restaurants.
- Eel is seared over charcoal in a grilling room by the entrance and brought to the table. Eight posts describe the eel arriving pre-seared, and four say staff finished grilling it at the table. One post differs on the set: it says the eel came fully cooked on a hot plate, while others finished the seared eel on a tabletop grill.
- Whether the glaze is spicy is split: three posts found it not spicy (one of them about the teriyaki sauce), and one called the spicy glaze moderately hot. Another post says staff warned at ordering that the spicy glaze might be a little hot.
- Eight posts went with children. Six mention high chairs; one family that booked found a high chair already set out and was given seaweed and soup for the baby. Another wished there had been seaweed, since eel was the only thing the child could eat.

- Three posts say you order from a tablet or kiosk at the table. Two mention phone chargers by the seats, one for every one or two tables.

Parking
19 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Parking is not a worry. Nineteen posts say they pulled straight into the large lot in front. One arrived at the 6:30 pm dinner peak and still parked without trouble; another went on a weekday and found plenty of room. The '300 cars' figure that recurs is the restaurant's own number, copied from post to post, so we don't rely on it.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| In a basement | 5 of 27 posts |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | 1 of 27 posts |
The eel hall is on the ground floor; group tables and private rooms are in the basement. Five posts mention the basement. A package-tour post says the eel was upstairs but their group was sent downstairs, and another post by the same blogger says the basement serves mainly mackerel, hairtail and black pork. One post describes a wine cellar and large group tables downstairs. No one says whether you reach the basement by stairs or by lift.
No one says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That means we don't know, not that it's impossible. One post only remarks that the tables are spaced widely enough to bring a stroller next time.
No one says whether the toilets are inside the restaurant. One post notes separate men's and women's toilets; another says they were clean.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices have gone up. Posts from June and August 2025 and June 2026 give the eel set at 28,000 won; posts from September 2026 give 33,000 won. Grilled eel went from 8,900 won per 100 g (2025) to 9,600 won (September 2026), the bracken eel soup from 12,000 to 15,000 won, and the medium hot pot from 48,000 to 55,000 won. For grilled eel, one post put a meal for two at 60,000–70,000 won; another pair ate 120,000 won worth and still felt slightly short.
- Twenty-one posts landed in September–October 2026, and many share the same sentences: private rooms 'from 4:30 pm, up to 140 people', the same five hotels listed in the same order, the same hashtag block. Three disclose sponsorship and one says it was a reviewer program; the rest say nothing. Two September posts still advertise a 20% eel-rice discount that ended on 15 May. One post that appears to come from the restaurant itself was not counted.
- Eighteen posts give opening hours, nearly all copied from the restaurant's listing. Seventeen say 10:30 am to 10 pm; one June 2026 post says it opens at 10. Fourteen give a 3:00–4:30 pm break; seven say it applies Monday to Thursday only, while one says only weekends and holidays are exempt, so Friday is unclear. Five give last orders at 9 pm.
- No one describes getting there by bus. Five posts say they drove, and the rest only talk about the car park.
- No post mentions waiting. Two booked ahead, and some say it was busy, but no one describes a queue. That means no one wrote about it, not that there is never a wait.
- More than ten posts give the phone number as 0507-1449-7117; one September 2025 post gives 064-738-7115. Two posts say they made a reservation.
