Korean

Deomjang Jungmun-jeom

덤장 중문점 Deomjang is the Korean word for a traditional fixed fishing net (a set net); one post notes the house says its fish come from set-net fishing year-round.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

Deomjang Jungmun is a Jeju regional restaurant in a standalone building at 17 Cheonjeyeon-ro, at the entrance to the Jungmun resort area. It opens at 8 a.m., and many posts went for breakfast: abalone porridge (14,000-15,000 won) or bomal seaweed soup (12,000 won). For a full meal people order braised cutlassfish (small 52,000 won) or the Deomjang set with grilled mackerel, sliced pork and seaweed soup. Several posts note that every order comes with sides such as soy-marinated crab, braised damselfish and pork skewers. We read 30 posts from January 2025 to October 2026; 22 record an actual meal, including one 2017 visit written up in 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Besides a large hall there are private rooms; five posts mention them. A family group that booked ahead was shown to a quiet room; a regular wrote that the rooms are nicer but staff usually seat you in the hall.
  2. Families make up much of the trade: eight posts went with family. One package-tour diner entered by the back door to a pre-set table, and pairs were seated with strangers at four-person tables.
  3. Four posts brought children. Parents note kids finishing the complimentary seaweed soup with a full bowl of rice, and a six-year-old eating the pork and seaweed sides happily.
  4. Four posts come from returning customers: one has been coming since childhood, one family goes every time they visit Jeju, one goes now and then, and one found it unchanged after a long gap.

Parking

9 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park9 of 21 posts

Parking is the most repeated point. Nine posts describe parking there, and seven of them comment on its size — big enough for several tour buses, 'as wide as a sports field'. Because the restaurant stands alone, one post says it was easy to park.

Getting inside

Second floor3 of 21 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 21 posts read)
Lift to the floor1 of 21 posts

Which floor is in use is unclear. Three posts were taken from the ground floor up to the second (one in November 2025, two in August 2026); one family was sent up the stairs with children although there is a lift. Yet an August 13, 2026 post says it was told only the ground floor was open — hearsay, so we did not count it.

No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One post mentions a lift, but none describes the way in. That means we don't know, not that there is a problem.

No post mentions the toilets — where they are or whether they are separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-182 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Two posts call the staff friendly and one was disappointed: a party of seven, children included, each ordered a dish and overheard someone at the pass telling the server not to take orders like that.
  • Opinions on price split: two posts found it expensive, three did not ('no worry about tourist-trap prices', 'good value'). Abalone porridge is 15,000 won in two August 2026 posts and 14,000 won in one October post, so we cannot say which is current.
  • Ten posts give opening hours of 08:00-21:00, all copied from listings. Seven give a 15:40-17:00 break and one May 2026 post says 15:30-17:00; last order is 20:00. Two posts add that you must be seated by 15:10 before the break.
  • Most posts list the phone number 0507-1402-2550, some also 064-738-2550. One post booked ahead through Naver, for a family group of more than four.
  • No post describes waiting. One went around 10 a.m. and found it quiet. A listing post claims waits on weekends and in peak season, but that is copied text. This does not mean there is never a wait — only that no one wrote about one.
  • No post describes arriving by bus. The line 'five minutes' walk from the Jungmun Resort stop' appears only in a listing post by someone who did not visit.
  • We did not count eight posts. Two hotel-ad posts from October 18, 2026 share identical text and hashtags, and the restaurant is only a line in their itinerary. A June 2025 listing-site post still carries template markup and a scraped review widget. The rest are itinerary round-ups and the city's holiday lists of open restaurants.
