거북명태명가 Geobuk means turtle, myeongtae is Alaska pollock, and myeongga means a renowned house — roughly 'Turtle, the house of pollock'.

Compiled from 10 blog posts read in fullSources →

A pollock-braise house that opened in early September 2026 at 123 Yeono-ro in Ora-dong, Jeju City, off Yeonbuk-ro. The main dish is semi-dried pollock braised in a spicy sauce with rice cakes — 42,000 won small, 56,000 medium, 70,000 large — with three spice levels; four posts counted three whole fish in the small. Until 3 pm there is a lunch set at 15,000 won a head for two or more. Extra side dishes come from a self-serve bar, and you wrap rice, fish and bean sprouts in laver. We read 11 posts dated 10 September to 23 October 2026; 10 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Built for groups: 7 posts mention a separate group room, one describing it as private space for 30 to 40 people. Nine posts describe a big hall with widely spaced tables, and several saw local elders arriving for gatherings.
  2. Side dishes are topped up from a self-serve bar, as 8 posts describe; one notes the laver sheets are refillable there too, another recommends loading up on the pickled chillies.
  3. All 3 posts written by families with small children found high chairs; many ordered the 12,000-won house-made tteokgalbi patty for kids who can't take the spicy braise.
  4. Three posts found the braise not salty. Sweetness splits 3 to 2: three called it sweet-spicy, two said it wasn't sweet. Those who ordered regular or mild compared it to slightly below Shin Ramyun heat.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 10 posts read)

Only one post mentions the floor: a ground-floor shop in a brick building. Another says it occupies a standalone building.

We don't know about steps at the entrance or wheelchair access — nobody wrote about it. One post's summary box says strollers can get around, but that is copied information, not something we counted.

We don't know about the toilets; one post's summary box says they are inside and clean, but no one described using them.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 11 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one post saw a queue: arriving at the 10 am opening, they saw people waiting by noon. Another, arriving at 11:30 on a weekday, saw the room fill at noon. Nobody recorded how long a wait lasts. One post booked through Naver and was seated straight away.
  • We don't know how to get there by bus; posts only give driving times (10 minutes from the airport, 5 from the provincial office). Three posts say they drove.
  • All 10 visit posts give the same hours: daily 10:00–21:30 with a break from 15:30 to 16:30. These are copied summary lines, and one post also says 21:00 in its text. Three posts say it is open every day of the year; nobody gave a last-order time.
  • Prices are consistent across the Sept–Oct 2026 posts, except one listing the medium braise at 65,000 won where three others say 56,000. One receipt shows 57,000 won for a small braise, a tteokgalbi, stone-pot rice and a bowl of rice.
  • Takeout is unclear: one visitor took a small braise home before returning, while a post a day later said takeout and delivery were 'still being prepared'.
  • Five posts give the same phone number, 0507-1340-0254; one post booked a table through Naver reservations.
  • Most posts follow the same template — the same 'Jeju Korean restaurant' keyword, a paragraph on pollock's health benefits, and the house's eating instructions in the same order. Two posts say they paid themselves; the other eight say nothing about sponsorship. Claims that the heat comes only from Korean chillies with no capsaicin, that the owner won cooking-contest prizes, or that it descends from a Seogwipo fish house are the shop's own words or hearsay, and we did not count them.
