NOKNAMU

녹나무 Noknamu Noknamu is the camphor tree, which grows wild on Jeju; one post says the restaurant takes its name from it.

Compiled from 9 blog posts read in fullSources →

Noknamu is a Korean restaurant on the third floor of Jeju Dream Tower (Grand Hyatt Jeju) in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City. Diners grill Jeju black pork and Korean beef over charcoal at the table, and you can also have a set meal at a table without a grill. The two-person black-pork set is 78,000 won, and the spicy pork set meal is 20,000 won. We read 16 posts dated July 2025 to October 2026. Five turned out to be about a tree of the same name or about other places, two only introduce the restaurant, and nine describe an actual meal. In 2022 it also served breakfast to hotel guests; today it opens for lunch and dinner only.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff grill the meat for you. Seven of the nine visit posts say so. One says they grilled it from start to finish; another describes a gloved server with tongs and scissors cooking the large pieces first and cutting them into bites. The other two posts ordered only set meals and were seated at tables without a grill.
  2. Three posts came with small children, aged seven months, twelve months and 38 months. Two say the children sat in high chairs. One parent writes that because staff do the grilling, the parents could focus on the kids. Four posts in all mention coming with family.
  3. Posts split three to two on whether it is expensive. One couple paid 101,700 won for a platter of meat and noodles and called it about 1.5 times a downtown barbecue house; a family of four paid about 140,000 won and said it is clearly on the pricey side. Two others called the prices reasonable for a hotel restaurant.
  4. Four posts mention window seats or the view. One notes that from the third floor you see Nohyeong's streets rather than a panorama. A walk-in diner was given a middle table because reservations took the window seats, and found the window side noisier.

  1. Four posts were repeat visits. One family first came for their eldest's first birthday and returned two years later; another says they end up here once on every Jeju trip.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 4 (of 9 posts read)
Lift to the floor1 of 9 posts

Four posts note from experience that it is on the third floor, and one says it is a single elevator ride from the hotel rooms. Another describes walking in through the hotel lobby and passing artwork and shops on the way up to the third floor.

No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller, even though three posts came with babies. That does not mean access is difficult; nobody wrote about it.

No post says where the restrooms are or whether they are separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 11 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes getting here by bus or public transport. One took the free airport shuttle to the hotel, which we did not count as the way to the restaurant itself.
  • No post mentions waiting. One walk-in was seated right away, and three posts mention booking ahead. That does not mean there is never a wait; nobody wrote about one.
  • Nearly every post that says who they came with came with family (four posts); one came with a colleague after work. No one came with friends or alone, so we cannot say how it suits a solo diner.
  • Five posts give the same opening hours, 11:30 to 22:00 daily with a break from 15:00 to 17:00, but all copied them from listings. No one gives a last-order time or closing day. The 07:00 to 11:00 breakfast service from 2022 no longer runs.
  • Prices depend on the period. The 2022 figures in one post (a 600g platter at 79,000 and later 98,000 won) differ from today's menu, as that post itself warns. Current prices come from 2026 posts; none list drink prices.
  • Four posts give the phone number 1533-1234, which appears to be Dream Tower's central reservations line. One also mentions online booking via TableCheck. Three posts say they booked ahead.
